Margot Kidder 'Superman' Star Dead at age 69
TMZ ^

Posted on 05/14/2018 10:32:24 AM PDT by ethom

Margot Kidder, the actress who played Lois Lane in "Superman," died Sunday in Montana ... TMZ has learned.

Margot was at her home when she passed away, according to the spokesperson at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home in Livingston, MT. The cause of death is unknown at this point.

Bruce Becker, the Park County Attorney, tells TMZ ... an unknown person called police to report Margot was unconscious and not breathing. Police responded and found her dead. The death is now under investigation.

Margot starred opposite Christopher Reeve in 1978's "Superman," and also in the 3 sequels. She continued acting right up until this year, taking small roles in TV shows and movies -- but also had stage roles ... including "The Vagina Monologues" on Broadway. She reportedly had 2 more roles yet to be released.

Margot had a very public battle with bipolar disorder for years. During her struggle she was briefly homeless in 1996. Margot became an advocate for mental health after that incident.

She'd been married 3 times, although she'd been single since the '80s.

Margot is survived by a daughter.

RIP

Just saw Superman recently and it has really aged well.

Other than most of the audience no longer gets the phone booth gag.

IMVHO the best sports movie EVER.

One of my favorite scenes is when the team is looking around the arena in awe, coach has the players measure the court and height of the baskets and quietly says “just like the one we have at home.”

I can’t stand his Scarface. The only way it works is as a comedy and even then it’s not all that funny. It also goes on forever.

I hope she made her peace with God. In a book that came out in the early 1990s about women who had abortions, she was one of the women featured and she admitted to having the procedure. IMHO, I believe that was the cause for her erratic behavior.

Chris Reeve was the closest physical match to the drawn concept of Superman.

I agree that Reeves was closest but Tom Welling wasn’t far off either.

George Reeves was good in the role but was just too old.

I loved how he came in and upset the whole applecart.
Stressed ball control, pass the ball around and even told the town how he was going to coach the team.

Dennis Hopper played a great part in the movie too.
Two flawed characters in a great movie.

And Melissa Benoit has a great singing voice too as seen on Glee. And she had early career appearance in Homeland season one episode 2. Have never watched any other Homeland episode.
