'Love' is a word that is frequently heard,
'Hate' is a word that is not.
Love, I am told, is more precious that gold.
Love, I have read, is hot.
But 'hate' is the verb that to me is superb,
And love but a drug on the mart.
Any kiddie in school can love like a fool,
But hating, my boy, is an art!
--- Ogden Nash
LOL
One of my favorite poets. Thank you, lol
Definitely fits, and that’s so very nash!
The cow is of the bovine ilk.
One end is moo, the other milk.
There has been a lot of progress during my lifetime, but I’m afraid it’s heading in the wrong direction.
Ogden Nash
Hear, hear!
Hogamus higamus, men are polygamous.
Higamus hogamus, women monogamous.
Now if only Nash were still alive and there were a decent rhyme for Antifa!
The energy it takes to continually hate is staggering. Love is easy. I am 66 and I dont have the time or energy to hate. Not giving in and not giving up I can do. While thats going on I will love freedom. Thanks for the poem. Its so true and it makes me smile.
The smelliest one was Shaniqua
Don’t try to ride a steer amid
The hallways of a pyramid.
Even Emmanuel Kant
Once used the wrong font.
“Hatred (A Duet)” — The Kinks
You keep on accusing me
Of making your life misery
But if that’s not abusing me, what isn’t
You wanna be my friend, well it’s too late
My love for you has turned to hate
And I think that it’s a permanent condition
You say you wanna make the peace
Smile and turn the other cheek
I can’t put myself in such a weak position
Now I’m willing to accept this fate
You and me just can’t cohabitate
We agree to hate and that’s our fast decision
Hatred, hatred
Is the only thing that keeps us together
Hatred, hatred
Is the only thing that lasts forever
Driven by hate, driven by hate
Driven by hate, driven by hate
On the surface I’m a mild-mannered person
That’s until you scratch the animal inside
Then you bring out all my animal aggression
I gotta hatred for you that is never gonna die
Driven to hate, driven to hate
Driven to hate, driven to hate
[Chorus:]
Hatred, hatred
Is the only thing that lasts forever
Hatred, hatred
Is the only thing that keeps us together
While races try to integrate
Nations try to gravitate
Towards equal rights, regardless of religion
Politicians might decree
For the sake of humanity
Love and peace instead of a collision
You and me accept reality
There’s no way that we can agree
The world can’t make us alter this position
At least you and I know where we stand
We can’t be friends, walk hand in hand
My hostility for you defies description
Hate’s the only thing we have in common
There’s no escape, we’ll always be this way
So we might as well just learn to live together
‘Cos we’re gonna be this way till our dying day
Driven by hate, driven by hate
Driven by hate, driven by hate
[Chorus]
If you keep on putting me down
Rub my name into the ground
I’ll drag the dirt all over town about you
And if you spread the filth on me
I’ll only have one remedy
I’ll spill the beans, you’ll see I’ve got a mouth, too
[Chorus 2x]
Yeah, hatred
Your attitude is downright rude
Your jokes appall me, they’re so crude
Why don’t you just drop dead and don’t recover
I’m the mirror to your mood
You hate me and I hate you
So at least we understand each other
Hatred, hatred is the only thing that lasts, what is it?
Hatred, hatred
Hatred, hatred
Is the only thing that lasts forever
Hatred, hatred
Is the only thing that lasts forever

The giant was huge
The Giant was horrid
he had one eye
in the middle of his forehead.
Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker.
Another Nash gem.
Enjoyed the poem.
I have always said, No one can hate like a liberal.
lol
Not only is it not what was intended by Kipling, but it obscures the history behind the poem.
The key to this poem is the date Kipling published it == 1917.
For the century after Waterloo, the British were accustomed to being undefeated, as they ruled their global empire, seldom challenged by other powers. Setbacks like Khartoum and The Mutiny were only temporary and were quickly avenged many times over.
So for "perpetual winners," WWI came as an incredible shock. Their pride & joy - the British Navy and their vast merchant fleet - were powerless through most of the war to fight back against the German's Untersee-Boats, and they came close to total national economic strangulation. Their other pride & joy - their young men who marched off to war - were killed and wounded in the ghastly death-trenches of France & Belgium, to the tune of over 2.5 million.
Spend any time touring in Britain, and you'll find in the center of every city or hamlet of any size, a monument to the local dead in The Great War, as well as many plaques & crypts inside & outside the walls of churches. The inscriptions on these tug at your heart.
Theoretically, the UK was a winner in WWI. But the incredible cost sure didn't leave them feeling like winners. This brought about a profound change in how they saw the world, and felt about their enemies, as reflected in Kipling's stanzas about the rise of unbridled hatred. This national hatred of all things German led them to rename hamburger to Salisbury Steak, sauerkraut to Victory Cabbage, and the royal family's official name from "Saxe-Coburg und Gotha" to "Windsor".
This past year American Liberals, just like the British of 1917, discovered that when a group who sees themselves as elite, unchallengeable, perpetual winners and rulers of all they see, are defeated by an upstart foe who they considered to be vastly inferior and subject to much mirth & ridicule, the hinges will pop off the doors leading to lower levels of their brains. And out will ooze ... no, make that "erupt" ... pure hatred.
And the British and the French got their vengeance. Boy, did their hardened hearts ever get revenge! The Versailles treaty humiliated Germany in all kinds of ways, as they turned deaf ears to Wilson's pleas for moderation.
Too bad for them, they didn't realize the huge price tag attached to their revenge.
Similarly, The Left of today never stops to wonder if their hatred has any price tags attached.
