Michael Hayden: The End of Intelligence
NYTIMES.com ^ | April 28, 2018 | Michael Hayden

Posted on 04/29/2018 7:51:31 AM PDT by Mandingo Conservative

Mr. Hayden is a former director of the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency...In 1994 during the height of the Bosnian civil war, when I was head of intelligence for American forces in Europe, I walked through the ruined streets of Sarajevo. A city of once-beautiful steeples, onion-shaped domes and minarets had been devastated by Serbian artillery in the hills rising above the Miljacka River. I wondered what manner of man could pick up a sniper rifle and shoot former neighbors lining up for scarce water at a shuttered brewery...The veneer of civilization, I concluded, was quite thin — a natural thought for an intelligence officer whose profession trends pessimistic and whose work is consumed by threats and dangers. Over the years I had learned that the traditions and institutions that protect us from living Hobbesian “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short” lives are inherently fragile and demand careful tending. In America today, they are under serious stress...President Trump both reflects and exploits this kind of thinking. It is fair to say that the Trump campaign normalized lying to an unprecedented degree. There was the candidate’s claim that legions of Arabs celebrated wildly in New Jersey as the World Trade Center collapsed. He defended his calls for the intentional killing of the Sept. 11 terrorists’ families because “they knew what was happening” and had “watched their husband on television flying into the World Trade Center,” something for which there is zero evidence. He insinuated that Senator Ted Cruz’s father had a hand in John F. Kennedy’s assassination and that the Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia had been murdered.

Of course he's going to be writing about this, his agencies are part of the swamp and they're up against a wall. Everything he says about Trump is really Hillary.

Heis shocked that the veneer of civilization is thin? Walking down the streets among minarets should have been his first clue. Perhaps the Multicultural ideal of mixing in a sixteenth Century death cult with modern civilization is the thin spots.

The turmoil that Europe is going through right now is just the beginning. Those who reject God and His laws get to experience the other side of the coin.

Tails... you loose...

President Trump both reflects and exploits this kind of thinking. It is fair to say that the Trump campaign normalized lying to an unprecedented degree. There was the candidate’s claim that legions of Arabs celebrated wildly in New Jersey as the World Trade Center collapsed. He insinuated that Senator Ted Cruz’s father had a hand in John F. Kennedy’s assassination and that the Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia had been murdered.

When pressed on specifics, the president has routinely denigrated those who questioned him, whether the “fake” media, “so called” judges, Washington insiders or the “deep state.” He has also condemned Obama-era intelligence officials as “political hacks.”

The only liar I see around here is Michael.

Bill Clinton never lied?

Barack Obama never lied?

Hillary Clinton never lied?

This writer is a major liar himself.

The premise that Trump es the first post-truth President is a bald face lie.

This is nothing but propaganda.

Trump truly does scare these people to death.

What are they really hiding?

If they’re scared to death we’ll find out they were trying to overturn our nation, they’re too late to stop us from knowing.

This guy did nothing here except out himself as a coconspirator.

He insinuated that Senator Ted Cruz’s father had a hand in John F. Kennedy’s assassination and that the Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia had been murdered.

It was the 'National Enquirer' that 'insinuated' that Raphael's daddy was involved... The Foxes asked candidate Trump about that article...

IF it had been a liberal justice on a conservative ranch and found dead with a pillow on his/her head ..... Hayden would be front and center of accusing some 'right-wing' assignation. Was Ruthie down with Scalia at the liberal ranch?

I hope for the end of civilization at the New York Times. So I can see all those traitorous bastards executed by their fellow neighbors. It would be glorious.

I dunno. Stating this lie, then following it up with supposed examples that are nothing more than media misrepresentations of Trump statements or even outright examples of media putting words into his mouth (because that’s the kind of thing he says, even though he has said nothing of the sort) rather undermines the point the author was trying to make.

Not that I have much desire to go to NYT to read the rest of the article, but I’m certainly not going to that effort to read outright lies.

NY Times, sore loser, sour grapes, etc.

Hayden is a moron, why? One would think he should be so worldly and intelligent, but he’s a moron, why?

Because he omits the one thing that hides his arrogant smugness. That would be his supercilious refusal to condescend from his self-acquired lofty perch to consider mingling with the detested deplorables in a sincere effort to build credibility and understanding. No, that’s beneath him, can’t do that.

By the way, I was living in Jerusalem during 911 and the Muslims did celebrate and hand out candy in the streets. As I am obviously American the Palestinians took great pleasure in mocking me, bragging how America just got a taste of what was coming to her.

This “intelligence officer” has forgotten the first rule of trade craft, do not let your own culture blind you to what you are seeing. His leftist mindset has blinded him to reality. Just as he cannot see the devastation that Jihad brought to Serbia, he cannot see the devastation his Marxist ideals have wrought on American culture.

He is a perfect representation of the leftist Jihad on American Culture. With his Atheism as his religion and Judeao-Christian values his infidels.

A hack political general who was incapable of spotting 8/11 coming full bore at US

He was head of NSA from Clinton through Bush first term. He did nothing to stop or prevent 9/11

The fact he lives minarets makes me suspicious

His observations are based on falsehoods about what Trump has said. Moreover he is a classic CNN commie

Hayden is the very model of the modern intelligence general.

First rule is to avoid actual combat at all costs, in his case Vietnam. Somehow, he received a Bronze Star, probably by making a short trip from Stuttgart to the Holiday Inn in Sarajevo. I’m pretty sure that by the time he showed up, the siege was over and the artillery damage in the hotel had been repaired. You know longer had to go around to the back to get to the restaurant, the snipers were gone.

Second rule is to maximize time inside the Washington Beltway, playing the political intelligence game.

Third rule is to take sides. Instead of demonstrating loyalty to the United States, become loyal to a political party. Most intelligence types choose the Democrat Party, no need to have a combat record, and you can claim to be one of the intellectual elite with progressive ideas and values.

I’m sure that he loved working for Barack Obama.

Our “intelligence” agencies are not very intelligent when they refuse to acknowledge that Islam has been at war with the rest of humanity since 622 A.D. and the United States since its founding.

I wonder if the CIA actually did destroy all evidence of what we saw with our own eyes, just so they could make this claim. It doesn't matter though. We saw it. It happened.
