I married into an Italian-American family that had weddings, showers, baby showers, Holy Communion celebrations, Confirmations, birthdays almost once a week. It drove me absolutely crazy and the checks we were writing was adding up. We had to say “No!” Most of the family understood especially my wonderful grandma-in-law.
