Cotton, I’m up for sub-hosting the cooking thread weekly taking turns with you and anyone else who would like to. We can assign weeks and as long as it’s in my calendar I won’t forget! I love the inspiration and cameraderie of the weekly threads, and as long as JT is so busy, I’d love to help her out! Who’s with me?

Wow, that sounds great. Always tempted by those pots but right now I am eyeing the pellet grills...

A lot of people will be disappointed to learn its not, like pot powder that you just add water to.

Whut? It’s not? Bummer, dude.

Wow, sounds yummy! I’m doing homemade pastrami sandwiches tonight (no, I cheated and bought the cured meat!) to send my son back to college with a good favorite meat meal.

The store is great. You don’t really have to have a nose ring to shop there. Best fresh chicken and meat and fish. Great produce and some deals.

If you do pull the trigger on the Instant Pot, get the 8 Quart version.

It comes in 4,6 and 8

Not much more for the 8

The reviews on that one look good.

I used to have one of those Japanese cleaver looking knives, loved it for a while, then I just sneaked back to my regular chef’s knife. My chef’s knife is maybe 30 years old. My ex was probably 18 when he got it in Switzerland. It’s my favorite. I have trouble cheating on it.

Best way to cook the winter squashes and pumpkins, to avoid the ER and bloody fingers on the kitchen floor: just put the whole squash into the 350 degree oven. At some point (depending on the size and hardness of your squash) take it out and you can easily cut it. Alternately just cook it whole and it will turn to nice mush all on its own.

I never get to our Trader Joe’s and the parking lot experience is kind of rough. But when I go, I am pleased at the selection and prices and new stuff I always want to try. Some of their products are very good. I always get more than I went for.

Ours is kind of far from us - we don’t like driving a lot - but I’ll check it out soon.

The food processor is my favorite kitchen appliance. I wouldn’t want to cook without it. Onions really hit my eyes so I will use it for them every chance I can. I love chopping things but sometimes soft leaves and herbs just whip up perfectly so fast. We make hamburgers weekly with half bacon (turkey for us) and I just mince the bacon in 10 seconds with that thing and mix with the ground beef. Boom.

Either the TJ’s here in Jew-ville still has empire or it’s another brand of kosher chicken they carry.

We got the 8-qt. The smaller ones wouldn’t be nearly as useful and versatile.

I’m writing this from the Appalachians (Dandridge, TN) where I’ve been for a day, traveling around for fun. Tell your husband there are incredible mountains here and, today at least, low humidity.

Best if you had to drive out that way, then take 20 mins and step in. Tell yourself you must try a couple interesting things, and see what you think.

It’s also nice to have a cheap, smaller one for doing little amounts of things, like onions. We got a Proctor Silex at Rite Aid for almost nothing, and it’s been great for very small, occasional jobs; it looks like it holds about 2 cups, takes almost no space, and is very easy to pull out and use.

Even though mine is the regular size, it is out 24/7 front and central, which makes it get used a lot even for one onion.

Also shredding. I forgot. Potato pancakes, carrot salad? Done. So easy.
