Joel Embiids teammates didnt know what he had planned for the moment The Process finally made way for the playoffs. Since hes been out for the past two weeks with that left orbital fracture, Embiid has petitioned different companies that make protective face masks with a special request: to give him a half-mask, covering the left side of his face, reminiscent of the one worn by the Phantom of the Opera. The Phantom of the Process as Embiid has dubbed himself with a new social-media hashtag made his debut before the Philadelphia 76ers hosted Game 1 of their first-round series against the Miami Heat. Embiid, following through the teams pregame bell-ringing tradition, emerged at center court, raised his arms to the roof and whirled around the hammer to put the sellout crowd into a tizzy. It was a bold move that couldve been clowned for its sheer brashness especially because Embiid remains sidelined. But it also is indicative of the cockiness, fearlessness and overall showmanship of a 76ers team that refuses to be confined by what should be expected of a team that, before this season, mastered in the opposite of winning.

It appears MLB is adopting their own version of “The Process.” The off season free agency market was more like a flea market. Teams saw what the Astros did tanking several seasons to accumulate top draft picks paying off with a World Series win.
What is it with grown men adopting 7th grade nicknames....The Process??? Sounds like something from Jersey Shore....and on about that same level.
This is the team that can beat the SWJ warrior and Trump hater, LeBron James in the East.
Playing hurt is one thing; in an 80+ game regular season it happens. Playing injured is another. Gutsy guy, gets my respect.
About 15 months later...
-The Eagles win the Super Bowl, vanquishing the Pats (who, to be fair, played an awesome game) for their first Lombardi Trophy ever. Following that victory, Eagles Coach Doug Pederson said: "I can only give the praise to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for giving me this opportunity.
-The Flyers go on a tear after the Eagles win (then they had a dip) and make it to the playoffs. After a humiliating defeat in Game 1, they beat the defending Stanley Cup champs 5-1 in Game 2 in Pittsburgh.
The Sixers are in the playoffs for the first time since 2012.
-NOVA!!
-The Phillies are winning more than losing.
COINCIDENCE?
WINNING!
The Process isn’t a nickname for a person. When the team was tanking to acquire draft picks to rebuild, the GM at the time told the fans and the organization to “trust the process” (of building a winner). When the process hit a few bumps in the road, he was fired and the term was used derisively about his efforts and the about team as a whole.
This year, the team has shown signs of being good, including a 16-game winning streak to end the season. The players really never stopped buying in to the process, even though it took longer than everyone hoped.
Two weeks before the playoffs, the best player on the team caught an elbow to the face and will have to wear a mask when he returns. The mask brought to his mind the Phantom of the Opera; he tweeted a photo of the mask he has to wear with the caption “Phantom of the Process.” I thought it was pretty funny and clever. I’m a Celtics fan, so I have no love for the Sixers, but I appreciate what the team has gone through and how good they have become.
It’s going to be Philadelphia vs Houston for the right to call themselves the “City of Champions”.
Kapler got off to an inauspicious start, but it looks like he’s going to be a good manager.
I’d take him over the garbage we have managing the Rangers, that’s for sure.
“The Process” is Jason Garrett’s crutch phrase.
Drives me nuts.
Cavaliers....BWAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!
