Indeed crashes 3 and sets his own ship on fire.
Forgetting to rearm before takeoff is NOT a “minor mistake”. This comment tells me he did not understand the importance of critical procedures, a major flaw, and an attitude problem.
“forgetting to re-arm for takeoff”
Yeah. That one is like a death wish.
Forgetting to safe is like sentencing the crew chief to death.
One would think that were check-list covered. What else did he “forget”?
In the Coast Guard Reserve, there were always slots reserved for W.O. and OCS for women and minorities. This was in the 80s and 90s. Doubt it has changed.
Both programs are brutal and they are merit based.
Mostly.
I can't speak for the Navy, but if you are USAF and have: A high ranking parent (military or DOD civilian), are a woman, or are a minority, you WILL get preferential treatment during training.
Which makes this guys complaints a complete joke. The truth is that he NEVER would have been accepted for training had he been white.
He failed flights for what he says were viewed in the squadron as relatively minor mistakes, such as "safing" an ejection seat and forgetting to re-arm for takeoff.
This is NOT a minor mistake in any phase of training.
I went through Flight School with the first four Women Naval Aviators. When you failed a flight lesson, you received a “Down”. Then you had a flight or two (IIRC) with a different Instructor, just to ensure that the problems was with YOU, not your instructor.
Three Downs and you were out of flight school.
One of those first four Women Naval Aviators received SEVEN downs and still got her wings!
Years later I took my son to the National Air & Space Museum at the Smithsonian. There, in the Naval Aviation Exhibit, was a display listing the names of all four ladies.
(I had better flight grades that ALL of them, but no display for me! Boo Hoo, poor me! sarc/)
She ended up crashing and getting killed on her first solo attempt to land on a carrier.
Probably not her first carrier landing, but... Kara Hultgreen crash
I agree, and I’m going to find out for sure. My husband is a retired Naval Aviator, and I’m going to show him this later.
The Biden Regime is now holding military aviators beyond their contracted terms "because I said so".
Deep State has rediscovered indentured servitude.
