Dmitri Gasak, Chairman of the Transfiguration Fellowship of Minor Orthodox Brotherhoods, speaks about why it is that what happened in 1917 in Russia wasnt just a change in the political system, but the beginning of a national and human catastrophe, as a result of which society has lost the ability to discern between good and evil, and why repentance is exactly the thing which will give the people back their bearings. The Transfiguration Fellowship is, in this 100th year since the Russian Revolution, running an initiative called Calling our Nation to Repentance."
More than a quarter century has passed since the Soviet power structure fell, but we are far from flourishing as a society. And it isnt as if we dont have anything to eat, but it as if we have no strength. And after didnt we Russians once say that God isnt in strength but in truth? So lets try to declare this truth to our own selves, at least if you see it, it will be persuasive to others, too. We need to believe in the truth but we dont instead we are afraid of it.
From the perspective of Orthodox tradition, repentance was never a way to manage, but a way to freedom freedom from evil and sin, from bondage to the dark shadow of the past.
Our impressions of the Revolution are dominated by versions we have read in Soviet textbooks. Unfortunately, we can sense this even within the Church.
Neither yet have we made sense of the history of our church during the 20th century. For the moment we seem unable to outlive the cruelty and sheer scale of anti-church repression. The picture is fearsome. But there is something else too...

Russian society appears be not much more than a 1920’s Chicago and NYC gangster world. Too many loose wolves with power, money and weapons. Bribes, kickbacks, doping.
Might take them another 20 years to get all sorted out.
And Ted Kennedy runs for president in America.
The same could be said about America and the rest of the world.
Russian society?
Hell, it’s worse here at home.
The democrats have even redefined the language to create their own secular, anti-religious description of good and evil.
If it helps democrats - good.
All else evil.
We are not much better. We have caught that infection. It might even be that they are closer to recovery than we are. The Eastern Church seems saner than our assorted religious and progressive secular leaders.
they’re not alone...
Regardless of whether or not Putin is a fake Christian, is a gangster, or admires Stalin, the fact that such people like Dmitri Gasak now speak openly about the need for national repentance and Christianity is a powerful sign for the long-term future of Russia.
Satan is a smart chess player. He uses tried and true moves that work. The demonic realm that took over Russia / Germany / and Japan have taken residence in the USA Petrodollar sphere (and in Europe). Judging by the foolish young people of our nation, Our fall will be as bad as Russia / Germany...
I am quite impressed by the words of this man, Dmitri Gasak. He doesn’t seem have anything in the Anglosphere internet.
What can you tell us about him?
If that is Russian society, what is American society? One can say that Russian society is slightly upward trending to some reform (or at least acknowledging problems) as America is trending downward.
Yep, we’ve got nothing to brag about in that area.
Communism =death evil lies and oppression
Christ = All that is good and light
Any questions ruskies?
This is what happens in a society removed from God.
Yep - just like us just about a century behind the power curve....:-]
At the moment, Gasak is one of the view lone voices crying out in the Wilderness. The very fact Putin was re-elected to the fanfare he did with the rhetoric and promises he espoused -- was indicative of just how strong Soviet-era demons have been resurrected and how much further there is to go...
Gasak is not a major public figure, which is why you won't find anything on him in the anglosphere internet. But the website for "Transfiguration Brotherhood" posts their articles in both English and Russian. They offer a unique yet much needed doorway into the spiritual state of Russia.
