I would think that its okay as long as the movie does not portray historic smoking:*)
It’s rated PG-13-——it would depend on the child IMHO.
Some kids are more squeamish than others.
I’d take the chance,though———they don’t get to see movies like this much these days.

Paul’s death is historical fact. His life was vastly more important than is death.
Teaching a child of 14 that living for the eternal truth of God’s love is not ended with death is the most important lesson a parent can offer their child.
Your child knows with absolute clarity that evil surrounds us. If that child has not learned the power of love to overcome evil they desperately need to see this movie.
Teens need to be toughened up to face the world. Even early teens usually face the obscenity known as junior high school which is plenty nasty even in most private schools. I would not worry about any of the great Biblical epics except the ones that were poorly made like THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD (told in the worst possible way and inaccurate to boot).
There are a few quick glimpses of floggings and “Roman Candles”, but they are not too graphic. Nothing like “The Passion of the Christ”
However, people are living in fear of being killed. You need to discuss death, real death, with the young person. They have probably seen lots of Hollywood and video game death without thinking about how it might apply personally.
They need to understand that life is temporary and eternity with God is possible, if they so choose. 13 or 14 is a good time to start growing up, in the good sense of the term.

The movie shows how God’s love conquers hate and ignorance.
Paul comments to the Roman Prison Warden that why would so many Christians die for a false God?
Yes it shows some cruel scenes, and you may need to discuss how people can be evil and follow evil leaders.
It is a good movie with positive moral teachings.
Would you tell him the story of Jesus’ crucifixion or let him see a crucifix?
The movies kids need to be protected from are the ones portraying Christians as criminals, kooks and cowards.
This would include most of what’s come out of Hollywood for the past half century.
I took my daughter to see The Passion of The Christ around the same age
I say yes
I took my 11 year old. There is violence - Christians are shown being burned alive as Roman Candles, a woman whose family is slaughtered by the Romans shows up covered in blood, prisoners are beaten, etc. I didn’t have a problem with it because quite frankly what’s on TV is worse and this is historically accurate. I think it helped my daughter conceptualize martyrdom & how people suffered and are suffering for their faith.
I saw it the other night with my brother. A very serious movie (with perhaps five seconds of even an attempt at humor) and thought provoking.
I thought about the themes long after the movie was over.
I say yes, bring the boy if he is amenable.
We saw it last night.
It helps if you explain that this is REALLY what happened to Paul and other Christians because of their faith.
Also, explain much of the blood is from Roman sacrifices to stone idols.
Explaining is the key ingredient in “Parental Guidance”
By all means take the young teens.
It will help provide perspective to CURRENT government restrictions to the free exercise of religion.
It is a horrible movie. Extra Biblical... nonsense! Went yesterday and could not believe how bad it was. If you want a movie about “Christ-less Christianity” this is the one for you.
