Recovered Apple smartwatch data, which indicated when a murder victim's heart stopped beating, will be key prosecution evidence in the case against a South Australian woman charged with killing her mother-in-law, a court has heard.

Caroline Nilsson has been charged with the bashing murder of Myrna Nilsson, 57, at their Adelaide home in September 2016.

At the time of the incident, the 26-year-old told police that her mother-in-law had been attacked by a group of men who had forced their way into the property after a road rage incident.

Not really as it provided clues to the police. The Apple watch wasn’t the victim’s problem, but it turned out to be the attackers undoing, perhaps.

I wonder if she and her husband had given the victim the Apple Watch as a gift...

Lots of young women don’t care for their new MIL. Nothing new there. But killing her? Yikes! I’m thinking their marriage is now kaput.

Great news the data from her Apple Watch helped ID the suspect.

6.38pm - Attacks MIL
6.45pm - MIL dies
7.02pm - Sends a text message to her husband
7.13pm - Accesses eBay from her phone

Look for the eBay ad: “Big Estate Sale - Everything must GO!!”

I’m wondering if perhaps the missing CDC guy in Atlanta might have gone out for a run and met with evil. He’d left his wallet, phone and keys at home and didn’t provide extra food and water for his dog. If he were wearing a smartwatch or fitbit would his data show what happened to him?

Next they should add a frick'n laser beam so it can be used in self defense.

What part of it was the killer who was wearing the watch are you missing, Okie? You can already call 911 from an AppleWatch, although I much prefer using a 9mm for self defense to either lasers or 911.

When it says Recovered Apple smartwatch data, which indicated when a murder victim's heart stopped beating, what is one to assume? You might want to work on your summarization S-WordMaker

Unfortunately, most of these smartwatches need to download their data to a coupled smartphone via Bluetooth . . . and the CDC guy left his smartphone at home. If they ever find his body and it still has his smartwatch/device on it, they may be able to download those data. I say "may" because the smartphone may be locked with a biometric or a passcode key and if so, the device will erase any data before it will resync to a new smartphone. Data gone.

Another article I read stated the killer was wearing an AppleWatch which showed a spike in exercise with a high heart rate right at the time of the killing. . . which gave lie to her alibi of the murder timeline which coincided with the victim's heart rate stop. Perhaps we are both right, so I do apologize, Okie.

Maybe the watches synced up and they had the whole cases delivered via ether.
