Thousands of revellers made the most of the four day Easter Bank Holiday weekend as they celebrated into the early hours of this morning.

Party-goers took to Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle city centres as they descended on pubs and clubs to celebrate, with many looking a little worse for wear as the night wore on.

With Good Friday and Easter Monday providing extra days off over the weekend, they saw it as chance to let their hair down, but some clearly took it a bit too far.

The British are disgusting when they start drinking, and they take it abroad with them, too. They’re the plague of tourist areas in Spain.

And it’s not surprising that they’d consider Good Friday a perfect time to get throwing up drunk. But then, didn’t the sainted Teddy Kennedy sponsor a massive Good Friday drinking session at his place in Florida that resulted in his nephew (and possibly Teddy himself) raping a girl?

Really! I never heard of Easter boozing and carousing. It was generally considered one of the most solemn weeks in the Christian calendar.

Spent all of the Easter season in London in ‘05, saw nothing out of the ordinary other than Vanessa Redgrave in a Greek Tragedy.

Sadly, the UK no longer has much of a "Christian calendar". Even Christmas there seems almost as secular as it is in Japan.

You’re right about that. Check out the comments after this article. It is people complaining about how the women in the photos are dressed. Not one person mentions Good Friday or religion. And yet they are being replaced by another religion and have nothing to say about that, either.

Religion of bacchanalism or secular brand of scientism or the “religion of peace unless you disagree with or live differently from me”?

There was an article a few weeks ago about the many churches that have been closing in England lately.

Well with them treating Easter as a Bank Holiday and a chance to let down their hair to party till the sun comes up, is it any wonder why Christian churches are closing and Mosques are being built?
