Where is chet99 when you need him?
She shouldn’t have abused them and threatened them with cooking.
Yes. What information can I supply about the breed or the persons who advocate for them?
I was told some time ago to “educate myself” about the breed, so I have gathered as much knowledge as I could.
I found a great number of links at an excellently-named site:

A pit bull-type dog that appeared to be guarding her body became hostile with the son before he fatally shot the animal!

I’m here. My experience is they weren’t abused or trained to fight they are very loving dogs. Even saw one as a rescue dog inside a VA hospital last week. He was very docile and sweet.
“Someone will arrive shortly to assure us that pit bulls are really nice dogs.”
I have had many dogs over the years. Most of my dogs were rescue dogs that had homes at one time in the past. They just wanted to go home to someone that would care and feed and love them. They would bond to you within a few days. They would lay down their lives for you.
Hell would freeze over before I would take a pit bull or even partial pit bull home. A pit can be the most loving and adorable dog until it kills you or your child or friend or neighbor. That is what they were bred for. Pits are just plain damn dangerous.
ps
My last rescue dog, Leo escaped from the backyard on day two. He ran around the neighborhood for a few hours and I could not find him. At the end of the day I found him on my front porch waiting to be let into the backyard. It was like he was saying, “I like it here.” He knew this was a good home for him.
