FEARS of an alien invasion over Horwich were quickly dispelled after strange lights turned out to be from a circus.
Police received several reports overnight on Monday of lights and lasers in the skies above the area.
Police added that they also became aware of electrical engineers working elsewhere in Horwich using high powered flashlights and headlamps at around the same time.

Thanks that went right over my head at first!

Don't get it.
If I thought aliens who are not from Mexico but from say, Andromeda or something were invading, it would stand to reason they had technology that transcended thermonuclear weapons for their propulsion systems. Ergo, to what end would I call the police to try and subdue them with pea-shooters?
Wouldn't it make more sense to have someone with superior communication ability-like, for instance, me-to attempt first contact?

It’s near Notlob. They sell Norwegian Blue Parrots there, but, they are mostly dead parrots.

They’re not that good.
They did crash at Roswell, after all.

Where is Bolton?Obviously, somewhere in the UK.
On the map, it looks like it is south of Egerton and north of Farnworth.
Just stay on the A666, and you'll have a devil of a time missing it.

That's unfair criticism.
Those aliens had a cracked distributor cap and were about five quadrillion miles from the nearest service station.

When it comes to circuses, it’s either “Mr. Kite” or “Ballad of a Thin Man” for me.

Ballad of a thin man is definitely one of my fav. Also, Little Wing, but by Clapton. Although it’s only a mention of a circus.

Not just the lyrics, but the “Kite” and “Thin Man” music sounds like a circus.
Outstanding songs.
