The shocking footage, shared on Twitter by one of the priests witnessing the act, shows the moment when local Communist Party chiefs use a crane to remove the last cross standing on top of the Shangqiu Catholic Church South Cathedral in the country's Henan Province.
An unidentified group are said to have burst into the church without any official documentation or notice and occupied it by securing the doors and shutting down electrical power.
Priest and nuns reported the intruders to the police in vain, as the authorities once arrived confiscated their phone and quarantined them, barring anyone from entering or leaving the church.
The removal of the crosses lasted about five hours amid protests of church staff and volunteers.

The anti-religion actions of the Communist Chinese government and its government-sponsored thugs are many things, but shocking is not one of them.
Commies fear Christ
Bumper sticker time !
Chinese communism is the model the elites want us to follow. Especially, it would seem, the Cultural Revolution and the destruction of churches.
The Crown of Life awaits all Christians being persecuted for Christ.
Keep them in your prayers - we are next probably.
And these are the people Francis want to let pick the Bishops for the catholic church in China.
Too bad we no longer love God enough to separate ourselves from doing business with these haters of Jesus.
This is because the pope gave the commies the right to form a communist-friendly “catholic” church.
And yet there are some, including here on FR, who think that Red China is being run by more “tolerant” and “modern” Communists.
They think that there isn’t any persecution over there.
Unbelievable.
Here’s the full statement from Mr. Bergoglio condemning the Communist Chinese for their atrocity:
I suspect this is part of the deal Francis has made with the Chinese government.
Ping!
