True, but, but when it comes to dogs, especially, there are reasons and logic behind humans' (well, most humans in Western and some other Civilizations) normal attachment to these creatures. The same, but obviously more so, when it comes to respecting other humans, at least when they are not actively out to harm us. (Even dead terrorists, I think, get a decent burial, from "decent" people, at least if there are recognizable-as-human pieces to pick up. And I rate a puppy, even dead, higher than a dead terrorist.)
The question is where to draw the line. That can be "fuzzy", or a matter of opinion, but I think one such line is "pets". Under normal circumstances, Westerners treat their pets, including those deceased, with more "consideration" than animals raised for food. For example, my family eats plenty of chicken, but if one of my daughter's pet chickens dies, we will bury it in the garden, not eat it -- assuming we do not NEED to eat it. (If we were truly poor, we would not incur the expenses of "pet" chickens in the 1st place.)

In addition to what I already posted here I’d like to add the following. There seem to be a lot of unanswered questions here like: Were the parents of all students involved informed of this little extracurricular activity? If not, then anyone who wishes to call themselves “conservative” should have a problem with this.
There’s always much bru-ha-ha when we read stories of forced indoctrination of our children along the lines of “normal” homosexual behavior, or how anything conservative is “evil” , or even forced vaccination of children in schools, but no one seems to be concerned by the (possible) same coin here. Those supporting the actions of this teacher may be ok with their kids being shown such a demonstration, and that’s fine for their kids.
But what about the rights of the other parents involved? We (rightfully) decry when our kids are force fed perverted sexual acts in school and other abominations that infringe on the sovereign right of a parent, but apparently just because some FReepers have no problem with their own kids witnessing such acts, then anyone who complains about it is a “snowflake”.
Granted it was an after school activity but would anyone supporting this be ok with their kids going to an after school activity, led by a “health” teacher that graphically depicted sex acts? I think not.
Reminded me of an old Cheech and Chong skit , Uncle Pervy’s Clubhouse, that went something like this:

Dogs and cats are special animals and while I would give them Christian burial I open to others interpretation of the what to do with the body once they are dead, if they didn’t kill it.

They don’t need to be fed dead puppies and they certainly don’t need live ones. Trust me.
And they are very messy feeders. They don’t swollow prey whole like a snake.
Watching one eat a dead puppy would give any NORMAL human being, let alone a kid, nightmares for life. A live one would make any normal adult punch or strangle the oerp.
If this teacher did either he is one sick bastard and should never teach kids again.

I don’t think it snapping turtle has that level of discernment. Besides it’s only meat. Mao ate 6 puppies for breakfast just about every day... Or at least that’s the reports that it come out back in those days when we were keeping track of Mao. If that dog when walking in the backyard same thing would happen. I’m not condoning his behavior but... He was just feeding it. My freaky neighbor is a herpetologist and he feeds his mice, hamsters Etc... if the snakes were big enough which I hope they’re not, a puppy would have been suitable material for food as well.
Well, I am an amateur herpetologis who just happened to have worked in a Reptile House in a famous zoo. We NEVE used live except on rare occasions when a snake refused to feed.
Nearly all reptiles will take freshly killed or thawed frozen animals.
Needless to say we NEVER used dead puppies or cats.
If thus guy did this, he is one sick bastard and no degree of excuse or defense shoukd be offered to him.
To do it front of kids is so much viler.

It never ceases to amaze me what kind of ridiculous response is elicited on subjects of this nature, o.e. cruelty to animals.
Whenever somebody here posts an article condemning some horrific act of animal cruelty, weirdos come crawling out of the woodwork trying to draw an analogy between that condemnation, and some ridiculous conclusion that it means you support abortion because you don’t like animal cruelty.

Have a blessed day and keep wondering instead of reconciling. I wonder about everything with no worries about it because the bottom line is that it doesn’t really matter because this universe and the knowledge of it will pass away. I love wondering about the eternal heaven/earth. Now THAT is fun.
One really fun part about wondering is seeing God’s character in this world giving no one an excuse in not knowing Him. When we know an artist’s style we can recognize a piece we haven’t seen yet as theirs. So much of this world represents the spiritual. Even the survival of the fittest. Gear UP! We are at war.
