China's exports surged in February while its politically sensitive trade surplus widened amid mounting tension with Washington.
Exports rose 44.5 percent over a year earlier to $171.6 billion, accelerating from January's 11.1 percent growth, customs data showed Thursday. Imports rose 6.3 percent to $137.8 billion, down sharply from the previous month's 36.9 percent rate.

While there are westerners who own the minority stakes in China, who are completely supporting China.
Trump seems to be on the right side. But the Chinese really do seem, to intend to not let us change things.
I hope Trump has a well thought out approach to this.
I am with him 100% on protecting Americans' jobs. But there is a BOATLOAD of bs, on most of the media, and from lots of "experts" who are all advocating the current system.
Give em heck, Mr. President.

China currently seems to be on a “let’s keep on exporting ever more, while we baffle the Yankees with Chinese BS”
Great observation. I work in fulfillment and see everything that is brought in and where from. There will be no easy answer. We do know what the market desires. Government is only a slice of the answer by America. In China's case EVERYTHING is run through the Communist/Crony Capitalist government. The cards are truly stacked by China, the American consumer and American sellers of everything made in China.
Companies are filling their warehouses before the tariffs kick in.
Of course they are going to surge. We have an expanding economy and they produce much of what the U.S. consumes.
I much prefer that Trump has put the onus on China to reduce its trade surplus with the US by 100 billion although I wish he started at 200 billion reduction rather than picking and choosing which products to tariff such as steel and aluminum.
This will force China’s hand to increase US exports to China or have everything that says Made in China tariffed at 25% which will do the job for China in reducing their surplus.
I completely agree.
I think he should have started at 500 billion (but that is just me)
People have more money to spend on consumer products. That’s part of what the tax cut did. Now we have to figure out what products they are, get the right to work laws in place and start making the same stuff for as close to the price as possible.
Chinese exports to the US will continue to expand until we manage to bring some of the US plants back to the US, and/or grow new domestic suppliers that can compete and win.
What’s been stupidly allowed to develop over about forty years can’t been turned around in a year or two.
