FULL TITLE:‘Keep your damn mouth shut …’ ABC tries to get Dolly Parton to trash Trump and her answer is brilliant
Reaching all the way back to the iconic 1980 movie “9 to 5,” which featured Dolly Parton, ABC News tried in vain to get country music legend to denounce President Donald Trump by likening him to the sexist boss in the film.
“The sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical portrayed so effectively in that movie by actor Dabney Coleman hasn’t exactly disappeared from the culture,” said Nightline correspondent David Wright. “We have a president of the United States who said the things on that bus.”
That a “journalist” can espouse such rank bias without a trace of shame is another matter altogether, but Parton proved to be a little too sharp for Wright’s taste.
“I’m not addressing that. I do not get into that,” the singer declared. “Of course I have my opinion about everybody and everything. But I learned a long time ago, keep your damn mouth shut if you want to stay in show business. I’m not in politics. I am an entertainer.”

Ditto! It is like the military, no matter how you may feel about the person you always respect the rank, the uniform, and position an never publicly say or do anything to disrepect it. This kind of respect is something our public lack-of-education school system along with the commie media in this country has destroyed. That is unless a democrate wins office and suddenly any criticism of the office will once again be unacceptable. The bias has become sickening.

The MSM channels survive on cable subscriber fees. How can these channels survive with their ratings in the toilet? Cable subscriber fees. Half of CNN’s revenue is from cable subscriber fees. Wouldn’t it be great to sink CNN? It is within our power. To disrupt the system, we must disrupt our lives.
The cable compay tried to sign me up recently. Internet and tv for less than I am paying for internet only.
I said, “Do you have a la carte programming?”. Nope. Then, no thanks.

too cheap to pay for it - also worked 100 hrs+ weeks thru most of the 90’s and early 2000’s.
Does not leave much time for TV, then in 2004 discovered the internet - and the rest as they say is history LOL-

The MSM doesn’t want the largest possible audience any longer, they want ‘followers’. Same goes for major American businesses. They would exchange the possibility of the largest possible market-share for a lesser percentage with deeper brand-loyalty. It’s definitely a new paradigm for our society and it speaks to the cultural fragmentation over the last 50 years.

Dolly didn’t say a damn word but she voted with the regressives with the change of name for part of her entertainment endeavors, removing the word “rebel” from the name. She made her stand clear and it’s not with the majority of people paying to visit Pigeon Forge.
The word she changed was “Dixie” in Dixie Stampede. Tempest in a teacup imo, Dolly opted to avoid a fight. If it were my business, I might have done the same thing.
She didn’t get to be where she is by pissing off her fans.........................
No disrespect to either you or your grandmother, but some of the Presidents of her time (and mine) should have been disparaged a little. Or at least mocked frequently.
Thanks for the correction on the word that was changed. I understand choosing which hills to fight for/die on and fights to avoid as business decisions. In this case, it was who do you allow to be seen as the winner and how does that affect your customer base? Take the train, the bus, or drive. Tell the airlines how inconvenienced you are avoiding CNN and the buying airline tickets.
