I can't seem to find which company developed or has the patent for the flu vaccine.
Would it be the same company for all the different strains each year?
I believe there is not just one patent but many for many diffetent vacvines
Please excuse my spelling
Please excuse my spelling
Vaccines are not quite pharmaceuticals but rather fall under “biologicals” and its very difficult to obtain a patent on any one. The virus changes and so must the vaccine.
I would have thought the patent for the flu vaccine expired more than a decade ago.
They have to redo the formula every year as strains morph.
Im sure the basic patent has been long ago expired.
I took my first and last flu shot in 1999. Ive been sick from it ever since.
Let your immune system take care of it.
Ok, let me rephrase my question.
Which company is issuing this year’s flu vaccine? What is the company name on the box or bottle?
There are several companies that manufacture flu vaccines but here is one that is currently selling and was recently approved, http://www.seqirus.com/
Sanofi Pasteur is one of the top manufacturers, but as others have said, there are several.
Here is a link that shows the different manufacturers. https://www.cdc.gov/flu/protect/vaccine/vaccines.htm
There are several for this year but from the Seqirus Company (This is the information to report adverse events and these are the products they list for the US this year.)
UNITED STATES
Afluria, Fluad, Flucelvax and Fluvirin: Phone: +1 855 358 8966

Is Eli Lilly one?
There are several companies that manufacture the flu vaccine.
When you decide to get one, ask for the quadrivalent vaccine. That protects against four different subtypes of flu: one each of H3N2, H1N1, Victoria, and Yamagata. There are several different strains of each subtype.
This year, the H3N2 strain used in the vaccine was a poor match for the strain that ended up circulating. While it was only 10% effective, the other three strains in the vaccine still provide a high level of protection. It is always worth getting the vaccine, because A flu subtypes (the ones named H_N_) kill thousands of people every year. The 1918 pandemic was a strain of the H1N1 subtype.
There are dozens of suppliers.
New Flu Drug Kills Virus in 24 Hours; May Be Available Next Year
https://www.newsmax.com/thewire/new-flu-drug-24/2018/02/12/id/842938/
"On Friday, officials in Japan approved the single-dose drug, known as Xofluza, for use in the country, according to the Wall Street Journal. In a clinical trial, Japanese and American patients who took the drug when they had the flu saw the virus wiped out, on average, in 24 hours."
But does it kill the host as well?
supposedly this new pill will make the flu so that it can’t be transfered to others too- that could be a major victory in the spread of the flu
You are so picky.
