I believe there is not just one patent but many for many diffetent vacvines
Vaccines are not quite pharmaceuticals but rather fall under “biologicals” and its very difficult to obtain a patent on any one. The virus changes and so must the vaccine.
They have to redo the formula every year as strains morph.
Im sure the basic patent has been long ago expired.
I took my first and last flu shot in 1999. Ive been sick from it ever since.
Let your immune system take care of it.
There are several companies that manufacture flu vaccines but here is one that is currently selling and was recently approved, http://www.seqirus.com/
There are dozens of suppliers.
New Flu Drug Kills Virus in 24 Hours; May Be Available Next Year

"On Friday, officials in Japan approved the single-dose drug, known as Xofluza, for use in the country, according to the Wall Street Journal. In a clinical trial, Japanese and American patients who took the drug when they had the flu saw the virus wiped out, on average, in 24 hours."
I doubt flu vaccines are patented. It takes years and tens of thousands of dollars for a company to get a patent.
This year’s flu vaccine is useless against next year’s flu.
We’re well into trade secret territory here.
Probably more a licensing deal rather than patent(s)

There are a few major makers of the vaccine in the U.S.: Sanofi Pasteur is the largest, supplying a projected 65 million doses or more this year, followed by Australian company CSL, at up to 54 million doses (after acquiring Novartis’s flu vaccine unit in August), and GlaxoSmithKline, at up to 38 million doses.
