LOL. Minor detail. But IMO, there is a serious issue with getting the public on board the MAGA-train, whoever is driving it. Otherwise Trump is no more than a 4 or 8 year speed-bump.
It is a big job, a long row to hoe.
I had some stray thoughts about the timing in the past week. If we accept that all of the constructs and entities that need to be removed/reformed/rebuilt/replaced have been building up for many decades (and are global in nature), then it should be apparent that this will not be an effort measured in weeks or months.
For the sake of a convenient shorthand, call it a 10 step process. If I had to venture a guess at the timing of the 10 steps, I see:
- currently, Team Trump is at about Step 0.25 to 0.50.
- if he gets 8 years, getting to Step 3 or 4 may be a large accomplishment
- if Pence is a worthy successor and has 8 years, perhaps he can get to Step 6 or 7
- Things would have to go really well for us to see progress to Steps 8 or 9 within our natural lifetimes (assuming a current age of 60)...
Am I too pessimistic? or too optimistic?
