The American ski great said Thursday she recently scattered some of the ashes of her grandfather, who served during the Korean War, on a rock near the mountain where the downhill races were run.
"I know that it would mean a lot to him to be back here, a part of him is in South Korea always," said Vonn, who shared her story with The Associated Press and the Chosun Ilbo newspaper.

She’s spewed a lot of anti Trump rhetoric over the past few weeks. Would these just be cigar ashes disguised to bring her positive press?
nice gesture, timed perfectly...right out of Hollywood...okay, I’m being too critical...too suspicious.
Is this the Trump hating Lindsey Vonn? The BRONZE medalist?
How can I miss this skank, if it won’t go away?
She wants us to care about the stuff which is important to her.
But she doesn’t care about the stuff which is important to us.
She likes her steak Pittsburg Blue it appears as well....
I doubt he would have wanted to be buried in Korea, not even a part of him.
But it’s not about him - it’s all about HER!
/shrug
I think family matters like these are best left private and unspoken. Otherwise it might be seen as just publicity stunts. Just my opinion.
Is it even legal to do that in Korea?
If she did that in Europe she’d probably be hauled in on charges of releasing carbon into the environment.
Sorry, but I think she’s trying to cash in on her so-called grief over her grandfather. JMHO
Meanwhile, Tiger Woods shot an even par 72 in the first round of the Honda Classic at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens. He’s attempting a comeback after months absent after back surgery. If he makes the cut tomorrow, there are doubts that he’s contemplating scattering anything out on the course and he certainly can’t afford to scatter the galleries on either sides of the fairways with errant drives.
My thoughts exactly. In the USA, you have to check to see if it is legal to scatter ashes ANYWHERE.
This gal is addicted to media attention.
This practice of dividing human remains among relatives, to be scattered around various locations is disrespectful to human dignity.
Don't ask ... don't tell ...
NO I agree with you. The bitch is an attention-whore. Thank you Lord for making her NOT win gold.
