The online publishing platform Medium has suspended the accounts of prominent far-right figures Mike Cernovich, Jack Posobiec and Laura Loomer.
Medium spokesperson Sandee Roston told The Hill that the company does not comment on individual accounts.
Roston did point to a Feb. 7 post detailing an update to its rules.
We have all seen an increase and evolution of online hate, abuse, harassment, and disinformation, along with ever-evolving campaigns of fraud and spam, Medium's rules update reads. We have strengthened our policies around this type of behavior.
We do not allow calls for intolerance, exclusion, or segregation based on protected characteristics, nor do we allow the glorification of groups which do any of the above, the new rules specify.
The platforms new rules include banning misinformation campaigns and lets the company consider off-platform action, in its decision to ban users.
In its previous set of rules, the company had billed itself as a free and open platform for anyone to write their views and opinions, and said it believes free expression deserves a lot of leeway, so we generally think the best response to bad ideas is good ideas, not censorship.
This language has been scrubbed from the current version of its platform rules.
The account of white supremacist leader Richard Spencer has not yet been deleted. Unlike Cernovich, Posobiec and Loomer, however, Spencer has not posted on Medium.
Loomer is also currently suspended from posting on Twitter for seven days over Tweets regarding the shooting at a high school in Parkland, Fla.
She is also banned from Uber and Lyft after tweeting that someone needed to create a non Islamic form of @uber or @lyft because I never want to support another Islamic immigrant driver.
Unless they are conservative, libertarian or even classical liberal.....
When is some smart Conservative going to step in and create solid social media platforms for Conservative writers/Opinion makers?
Why isn’t there a Conservative Facebook or Twitter? Wonder what’s stopping them? There’s no lack of smart Conservative IT guys and gals out there. Is money an obstacle?
But those aren't protected characteristics. The rules as written would tolerate exclusion of heterosexual, white males.
Our worst fears. Loss of freedom to dissent as any of those charges are generic, intangible. Society already ostercisizes Fringe people on their own terms, not on somebody else’s extrajudicial interpretations.
What about far-left figures?
“Two legs good, four legs baaad”
They are truly pushing for an all out war.
Ok folks. So today Twitter, YouTube, and now this bunch has moved to shut down anything conservative.
They are making big moves. Just keep your eyes open. This is an extremely divided nation, and we are being increasingly identified and marginalized.
They will not slow their demands, and we will not surrender to this revolutionary socialist attack. A blind man can see a collision coming. Who knows where the spark is?
Just be ready to look after yourself and your family.
There are several demonitized YT accounts. What is their intent? These companies are so mean.
How ironic that they are acting in an exclusionary manner by banning conservatives but no other political persuasions, and claiming the banned account holders were being exclusionary.
Horse manure..... just another Control-LEFT attack on anything that does not toe the DNC party line.
Anyone think this is not all being coordinated? Youtube, Twitter, Medium, etc.?
Here is a Conservative alternative that looks and operates like Facebook. Check it out! Perhaps I’ll see you there.
They were kicking themselves that they didn’t do more to censor conservatives before the election.
Our corrupt stasi state and the Obama-soros shadow govt is no doubt coordinating with these leftist controlled platforms.
Gird you loins.
A baker has to bake a gay cake, but Medium can
refuse service to someone for being conservative.
That is allowing one public enterprise to discriminate
while refusing to let another public enterprise do the same.
We’re prisoners shouting out through the bars
of our cells, “I’m free! I’m free!”
Please tell them to call me ;)
Re a conservative site, see post 14.

They're allowed for "diversity."
