To that end, U.S. Happy Meals will include cheeseburgers and chocolate milk only upon request, with bottled water added as a healthy alternative to juice or soda. French fry portions will be halved

When I was a kid I was way too skinny. I needed cheese on my burgers.
McDonalds is just caving to the food gestapo.
Oh boy. 3 soggy flavorless fries, water and a piece of leather on a stale bun.

I know Michael Keaton is a leftist a--hole, but I just watched the Founder on Netflix. The brothers got screwed by Ray Kroc. They were innovative, and I remember the McDondald's of yesteryear, when their fries were cooked in beef fat and their burgers were just bliss.
What will likely happen, kids won’t want it, so they’ll get the full sized portions instead and they’ll get 1000+ calories .
They seem to have forgotten who their customer is. It’s not the government. It’s not the nasty scolds of the food police. It’s people who would actually want to pay to eat what they sell. So, McDonald’s, ask yourselves: would you eat this? Would you pay to eat this? If you’re honest you’d answer “no.” You’re not responsible for poor diet and exercise. You sell good, fast, consistent and affordable food for people on the go. You’ve had a nice run for a good sixty years, but you’d better rediscover that or fade into oblivion.
Cutting down on the French fries is particularly egregious - could it be they know it will cause people either to buy 2 Happy Meals instead of one, or an adult combo meal to satisfy their kids?$?$

If this is their strategy I hope they go under. Seriously they do not deserve to survive.

And were made from fresh potatoes. Their milk shakes were also classic ice cream-based shakes, too.
In their defense, their coffee and soft drinks are excellent and cheaply priced, and their cones are delicious.
In addition, around here they are the cleanest restaurants around.
Mom an Pop burger joints are where its at these days. We have one locally thats been in business since 1954. Drive through and order window lines around the building pretty much the 12 hours a day they are open. Clean, fast, fresh and hot made to order. This is a family run place, no franchise.
Oh just cut to the chase!
Give the kiddies broccoli and brussel sprouts to make the food nazis happy.
McDonalds can call it the hapless meal.
When I take my kid out to eat, he can order whatever he wants and that is usually a cheeseburger.

Their stock got whacked pretty hard in the last three weeks.
SP 500 - Down 5%
McDonald’s - Down 12%
However, over the last 17 years, MCD has had a spectacular run.
SP 500 - Up 100%
McDonald’s - Up 420%
The increase in profit margins couldn't be a factor, it's all about health.
