An outspoken priest in the Dublin archdiocese has written a highly controversial book titled Five Reasons the Irish Church Deserves to Die.
Father Joe MacDonald was a late vocation at 45, but 11 years later he is a highly popular figure in his home parish of St. Matthews in Ballyfermot, a working class area of Dublin.
He believes the church desperately needs to modernize, and that the continued lack of vocations will eventually cripple the church.
Dublin now has only 220 priests, the vast majority of them elderly, for a population of one million. The church must change or die, he says. [ ]
I am amazed by how good we are preaching a message of fear, even though the whole joy of the gospel is a message of liberating love.
He says the Catholic message is wrong. Hellfire, brimstone and damnation are synonymous with the Irish priest, he says. Yet the gospel message is one of love and joy. We have often preached darkness, not light, he says. He points to how young gay people are shunned by the church, which he says is a huge mistake.

Better a small church that adheres to God’s word whose parishioners go to heaven than an enormous “church” that preaches man’s word and sends all their parishioners to hell.
Maybe Africa should send them missionaries.
No, I’m not joking: Many Africans were converted by Irish missionaries and the church is thriving.
The church in Ireland was imploded by the gay lobby, and years of the elites bashing the church in their MSM.
There’s a lot of big churches that need to come down. Love all the babies . Love everything.
Also Vatican 2, The Celtic Tiger and most of all, that fake hipness (which you’ve pointed out). The Irish used to be pro-America as well but now, despite the fact that their people still emigrate here for a better life, they hate us. They weirdly blame us for the IRA despite the fact it is an Irish terrorist organization that has slaughtered hundreds of their own people.
There’s something wrong at the heart of the West in this continual shifting of blame onto others for our own faults.
The USA was responsible for the so-called “Celtic Tiger”; it was US companies that went over there when they dropped their corporate tax rate to 12.5 percent. Foolishly getting rid of their own currency and switching to the euro undermined that. Most of the problems they blame the USA for they can instead blame on the EU, which they won’t leave.
Thank you for an interesting point!!
This “priest” is likely a fag himself.
