An official portrait of former first lady Michelle Obama was unveiled at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery Monday morning. The painting was done by Baltimore artist Amy Sherald, who is known for her social justice painting style.

They deserve social justice-quality portraits, too bad they have to be inflicted on the Smithsonian though.

Such depth of field - gray on white with some yellowish highlights so to speak.

On the other hand, such light colors are easy to cover with a white base and use the canvas for something better.

Both portraits look like something mediocre artists in a high school art class would have turned out. Obama sycophants can ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’, but it’s an “emperor has no clothes” sort of reaction ..... none of them (or the media) dare say the portraits are not very good.
