The San Diego Girl Scout council is looking into whether a scout who was photographed selling cookies outside a marijuana dispensary broke any rules.
Officials were trying to identify the girl and talk to her family because she was in a commercial area, which is not allowed, council spokeswoman Mary Doyle said in an email Monday.
Urbn Leaf posted a photograph of the girl on Friday outside the shop that sells medical and recreational marijuana and invited customers on its Instagram account to come get some Girl Scout cookies.
The girl wearing her green vest of badges is clutching boxes of cookies outside the front doors of Urbn Leaf in the photo, which was widely shared on the internet.

Cannabis is now legal in California and a direct result of that is the munchies a lot of times, he joked.
The photo drew praise and criticism. Some objected to a child photographed outside a dispensary.

About 14,000 girls participate in San Diegos Girl Scout cookie program.
As Girl Scouts, we assume good intent, Doyle said. When we learn that a girl is in violation of a standard/guideline, we almost always discover that the parent was unaware of the rules.

Urbn Leaf wants to talk to the council and clear up any misunderstandings, Senn said.
Ive been in the cannabis industry a long time and worked to bring it out of the shadows, he said.

Anytime we can help out by driving more people to support local fundraising like a Girl Scout selling cookies, well do that, he said.
Isnt selling cookies in front of EVERY DAMNED grocery store a commercial area????
Girl Scouts support abortion
I do not like the GSA (aka Future Lesbians of America) but I’ll note a hint of entrepreneurial respect for the little girl who thought to sell cookies to people who are notorious for getting the ‘munchies’.
Dude. It’s a pot shop. Munchies.
because she was in a commercial area, which is not allowed
OMG
Havent purchased a GS cookie since I realized what a LIBERAL organization they have become!!! Walmart carries the EXACT same cookies under the great value label for a whole lot less money!!!!
“Dude. Its a pot shop. Munchies.”
I think he gets it. The point is how many grocery stores have you seen them in front of. Or gas stations. OR THE LUNCHROOM OF MY FRIGGIN OFFICE
Around here you can’t get into a Walmart without running a gauntlet of girl scouts raising money for a liberal organization.
That was my immediate question which I'm going to have to find an answer to.
I see these kids selling cookies outside stores all the time.
This happened decades ago. They took God out of their Scout oath

What’s the problem? It’s great Marketing - know your audience and make a compelling offer that fulfills your brand promise in a timely manner.
I was at a supermarket last night where the girls (along with an adult) were set up in the sheltered entryway to get out of the cold.
The other ones don’t get busted because no one puts a picture of them on the internet. The humor value of her hawking her cookies outside a pot shop was her downfall.
SoCal radio says the pot shop was on her side and she sold a ton of cookies.
Something that gets lost in the anti-scout message, is that the money raised by the girls is shared by their troop and their local council. None of the cookie profits go to the national organization (they are paid by the bakers for the exclusive manufacturing contract). So buying cookies from the girls down the street go to the benefit to the local girls/troops/councils.
Where I live they sell inside grocery stores
That's why I don't buy their cookies.
Location, location, location.
