Normally, it’s the other end that gets the goose.

After being put down by the farmer in a game of crotch kicking, the hunter stood back up. Then the farmer said, “You can have the duck”.

A perfect case of post-mortem duck vengeance.

:)
When younger, we acquired two geese. Their given names were Pinky and Blacky. They road in the baskets on our bicycles. Once, we gave them a bath. They almost drowned as we washed their natural oil off their feathers. After a time we took them back to my Great Aunt’s farm and returned them to their pond. After all these years, still think about them and how they adjusted, where they went after we left them floating. My poor mother could have earned her nurse’s degree she bandaged and saved them so often.

Don’t worry about it. Most people accept the risk of pellets when they are lucky enough to be served wild game. Most normal people, that is!

I cook mostly breast meat; it’s pretty easy to spot the pellets that way. :)

Oh yeah, I have no problem with the landscape there. Just the politics. My last residence up there was in King George County. I had a 12 acre property that had deeded access to Potomac Creek at the mouth that fed into the Potomac River where it bends eastward toward the Chesapeake Bay. Loved it there. Nice quiet & peaceful. After many many years in that area of Northern Virginia, Maryland & D.C. I really do not miss it anymore. I loved that the ocean beaches were not too far when you headed east, and the mountains were relatively close by when you headed west.

What was the last thing that went through his mind?
His pin feathers.
Duck, duck—goose!

True, but it’s been home most of my life. I will miss Maryland. Probably going to Pennsylvania in a few years. I live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland which is not as toxic as Maryland beyond the Bay Bridge. The taxes are tolerable while I ‘m working, but won’t be managable when I retire. They tax retirement benefits to death!
