ABSTRACT This study examines the history of African American soldiers at Fort Huachuca, Arizona from 1892 until 1946. It was during this period that U.S. Army policy required that African Americans serve in separate military units from white soldiers. All four of the United States Congressionally mandated all-black units were stationed at Fort Huachuca during this period, beginning with the 24th Infantry and following in chronological order; the 9th Cavalry, the 10th Cavalry, and the 25th Infantry. During World War II, both all-black Army Divisions, the 93rd and 92nd trained at this Arizona fort. This study clearly demonstrates that Fort Huachuca is the home of the African American soldier.

Hmmm... Wasn't there a rather large disagreement a few years prior to that, 1860-ish, that allegedly make the black man equal to the white man???

PExecutive Order 9981 was an executive order issued on July 26, 1948, by President Harry S. Truman. It abolished racial discrimination in the United States Armed Forces and eventually led to the end of segregation in the services”!

Spent a year and a half posted at that base 68-70. Just that alone should have been adequate punishment for those divisions. (tongue in cheek /s of course).

The Army sent Mrs SR & I here in in 1972, then after 4 years, to the FRG, then to Riley. then Knox, then Korea and then back to Huachuca where I retired in 1992. I & She are still here.
