Meryl Streep has filed a trademark application for the rights to her own name in media and entertainment.
The application, filed with the U.S. Trademark Office last week, asks for exclusive rights to the name Meryl Streep as it relates to live, televised, and movie appearances by a professional actress and entertainer, as well as personal appearances and speaking engagements.
The trademark, if granted, would also prevent others from using her name on websites relating to the film and entertainment industry.
A 21-time Oscar nominee, Streep is up for Best Actress again this year for portraying Washington Post publisher Katharine Graham in the Steven Spielberg Pentagon Papers drama The Post. She is also set to join the cast of HBOs Big Little Lies for Season 2.
Whatever Meryl does, dont let it be Streep tease.
“She Who Must Not be Named” would be funny.
He tried Bung Hole, but it was rejected.
I would have thought that being a public figure, one would have trademarked their name and likeness decades ago
How about “That actress with a broomstick up her butt.” OK, that could apply to so many.
Actually yes, or use a middle name. Kevin McCarthy, a talk show host in Dallas had to register using his middle name because actor Kevin McCarthy had trademarked and used his name in SAG/AFTRA.
Then there’s Maude.
More like the “shocker”
see urban dictionary
I will now be referring to her as “Greedy Liberal bitch©”
CC
Wow. Which did she trademark?
Meryl Streep
Sterile Creep
Or
Lying Rapist Enabler Bitch
?
Because “Bitch” was already taken.
AND if another actress who has a birth name the same would be forced to change it?
Actually that is true today. When an actor signs up for SAG and their real name conflicts with an existing actor’s name they must use a different one. As an example there was already a Michael Fox so when a new one came along he had to register as Michael J Fox.
LOL. Perfect.
Thats already the case by SAG rules. Michael Keaton was born Michael Douglas but he had to use a different stage name because Kurt Douglas son already had that one.
Should be all of the above.
Hell...I don't even want to see her face.
I could give a rat's ass about her name.
Or...to be perfectly honest, none of them.
I could live the rest of my life perfectly content with never seeing or hearing from any of them.
Steryl Mreep
I think so too. Maybe there are copywrite deals when you go for three names.
I’m reminded of that scene in “The Money Pit” where this cross dressing band want to change their name to Meryl Streep.
