Me, too! And I’d rather have a simultaneous root canal and IRS audit than fly. But to see Tebow play, I’ll get on a dang plane.

Would fully support an American football league! The NFL has been dead to me for a while.

Old XFL teams:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:XFL_teams

New teams? My guess:
Orlando, San Antonio, Las Vegas, Nashville, Salt Lake City.

All places ignored by the NFL. The NFL teams are increasingly located in declining cities. Popular with the older crowd, but the grandkids live in places like the list above.

Which will make the eventual merger talks fun to watch. The XFL locates in young areas with growing economies, inks a smart media deal, they could set the terms...except the grandkids play soccer.

I doubt if any of the commentators on this thread live in or have visited Orlando recently. Orlando has become the Detroit of the southeast. It’s Florida’s dirty little secret. A jumble of crumbling infrastructure nightmares with broken roads and perpetually uncompleted construction projects, populated by unlicensed and uninsured third-world motorists breaking all speed limits and daring you to kill your vehicle’s suspension just to get out of their way. Zero law enforcement. No one speaks English. This is the city where that Muslim massacred the revelers in that night club. The only reasonably sane areas are off International Drive around the theme parks, which areas are kept in pristine condition just to keep the tourist dollars rolling in. Once you leave the tourist mirage, Orlando as a city is a freaking disaster. Travel there at your own risk. I’ve lived in Florida for 34 years. I remember in the 90’s Orlando was a very nice city. I used to work there. Orlando’s decline as a viable city over the past 25 years has been absolutely appalling. Sports teams? Yeah right.

I’m sure Vinnie Mac would love to bring in some “name” players for the first season of his new league. I agree that Tim Tebow would be an excellent choice to sign. However, he’s still pursuing a baseball career with the Mets organization. I saw an item the other day saying that the Mets had invited him to spring training (don’t know if that’s been confirmed or not, however.) In two years, when the XFL is ready to start play, Tebow will know whether or not he’ll be able to play baseball at the major league level. If he does make the Mets roster, I can’t see him giving that up to roll the dice on the XFL. Also, would McMahon be willing to match the kind of money that Tebow could make playing for the Mets?

I’ll bet my San Diego would welcome a franchise, after the worst owner in football, Dean Spanos, moved the Chargers to L.A.

Way back in my Drum Corps days, we did the National Anthem and halftime at a Birmingham Stallions USFL game. Interesting thing: As we finished our halftime show and were coming off the field, the players were already back on the sideline.

They actually GOT OUT OF OUR WAY, which, if you've ever been a musician dealing with football players on a sideline, you know that NEVER happens. They were all saying stuff like, 'Geez, that's the loudest thing I've ever heard!'

So if this league can hire respectful players like that, I'm all for it.

Tim is currently 30 years old.

2 more years = 32.

I like Tebow, but his playing days are over or very limited.

Unlike the NFL, McMahon said the new XFL would NOT give players a forum to take a personal stance on social issues while on the playing field (Translation: No kneeling during the national anthem), nor would XFL teams be allowed to sign any player with a criminal record (Translation: No SEC players allowed … bada-bing!)

. Players representing cities they're housed in would go a long way too... sportsmanship rather than 'biggest goon wins' would be nice... Going back to the days when families showed up - fathers with sons, young couples... traditions built... I like it.

He’ll be 32. Good news for him is even at that advanced age the league will still probably fold before he retires. In a lot of ways including him is saying that Vince didn’t understand why the XFL failed the first time, and won’t see this failure coming. Washed up washed out not good enough football players don’t make exciting football. Football’s not like hockey where 2 mediocre teams can still play an entertaining game because they’re evenly matched. Mediocre football involves a lot of incomplete passes and punting, it’s boring, no matter how even the matchup. Watching Tebow hit the receivers less than half the time, and then those bad receivers dropping half of those won’t entertain. XFL 2.0 is doomed from the start.
