ELLIS COUNTY -- The Ellis County Sheriff's Office has a 16-year-old student in custody after a school shooting Monday morning that left a 15-year-old injured.
Just before 8 a.m., an active shooter was reported at Italy High School in Italy, Texas.

Even the most intelligent and grounded of all of teenagers still can’t see very far into their future.
Too bad this boy made a very poor decision that is going to effect the rest of his life.

Amen! I see that 26 is more the time when the brain matures, especially male brains, NO OFFENSE! Before that the brain is not always able to see the long range effects of actions.
Like our friend who is in prison, he was 23 when he drove stoned on Xanax and ran into a family parked on the side of a highway. If they had not parked there they wouldn’t have been hit by Jeff, but he would have hit someone or something driving from the gulf to Houston DUI. So he was making stupid choices and now he is in prison. Our neighbor, and an only child. Teens and early 20s are not always mature brains. Some are, but many aren’t.
A friend was a warden at a prison and he said the most difficult prisoners are 19 to 20 year old guys. They are angry and mean and they can’t see right from wrong.
Jay also said that when a man of 40 gets released from prison he knows he won’t see him again. That most men are mature by 40. Sure there are guys who are mature earlier. But not all.
Just random thoughts that went through my brain today when I heard the news about the shooting here in Texas.
Locals say she rebuffed him. Rumors that he stabbed someone last year.
Probably is. We were so blessed to meet Roy while he still had his museum in Victorville Ca. What a nice gentleman. He walked and talked with us for an hour pointing out items in his museum. Then a tourist bus came by and he went out and personally welcomed and shook the hand of every one of them.
Sounds like the 18 year old who ran into a car two weeks ago here in Cedar Park Texas. He was Street Racing with another kid in a pick up truck. He ran into a car, killing two little boys, one was only 1 year old, the other was 8. The last I heard their mother was in a coma. So the kids who were street racing have caused two young deaths. I told my husband he better have a squeaky clean record. No, he has several arrests, long rap sheet. His life is over before it even began. Tragic for everyone involved. It was right across the street from my church.

Just saw it on local news. Still no known motive. Shooter shot the girl, missed a couple of others, ran out of ammo and then fled the scene. They caught him. That’s all there is at this time.
Girl dumped him for someone else?
In Vietnam 26 year old pilots were flying F4s and bombing the hell out North Vietnam and giving close air support to MEN in their teens and early 20s on the ground in the jungle and swamp.
