Conan O’Brien claimed Haiti “is truly a beautiful country” while he stayed at a luxury resort last week. O’Brien made the trip to Haiti in response to allegations that President Trump had called Haiti a “shithole,” prompting a slew of rich celebrities, including O’Brien, to attempt to prove otherwise.

If you had a choice of Baltimore or Haiti....that would be fairly hard choice to pick from the two.
I will say this...there are protected compounds with five-star hotels in Haiti. You fly in....the bus carries you by armed guard to the hotel, and you can do well for an entire week. Beyond that...you’d have to be crazy to spend more than two hours on the ground there.
Haiti isn’t a shithole because of its Geography, it’s a shithole because of their long history of leadership being evil and crooked.

OMG! This is like the UN Blue Helmet during the Gulf War. Staging propaganda. The irony is, in order for him to get to that resort, he likely had to travel through the country that would more accurately depict the majority of Haiti. He knows better than what he is reporting. This is the height of Fake news.
These reporters will go to New Orleans during a Hurricane and look for bodies to floating in flood waters to show how bad the situation is. But they’ll step over bodies and build hollywood sets to portray a 3rd world nation as a paradise.
Sure, it’s beautiful near the resort, but take a look at the photos of the border between DR and Haiti....DR is green and Haiti is brown and barren. That’s because it has been stripped for firewood because its government has stolen the money (billions of dollars in US and European aid) and leaves no other way for people to get fuel and doesn’t provide an environment where businesses want to set up and employ people so they can buy better fuel.
And of course, the big reason for Haiti’s devastating mudslides is ... deforestation. Something the enviro-wacko crowd seems to conveniently ignore.
Also: According to Business Insider, the average annual income in the country in 2013 was $1,358.10
I'll bet O'Brien spent more than that per night for his suite at that luxury resort.
I’m sure there are some nice areas in Haiti for the tourists.

To think that - many years ago - I was a fan of Conan O’Brien. What a POS. Same for the rest of ‘em, too.
He knows that Haiti is a Beautiful Country because the armed guards holding machine guns at the gates to the Resort TOLD HIM SO.
Okay, HE might not have paid more that per night since they probably “comped” him a suite in exchange for publicity, but I’ll bet the rate for “regular folks” ain’t cheap.
Conan is angling for the Grigory Potemkin/Walter Duranty Fake News Prize.
Same thing in Mexico, Central America and South America.
And Walter Duranty had his head so far up Stalin’s butt he never saw any Ukrainians starving.
Probably one of the resorts owned by the cruise lines. The people of Haiti accrue no benefit whatsoever from these places. The resorts employ non Haitian workers and keep their property separated from Haiti proper with barbed wire.
Did he leave the resort? Did the resort send a van to pick him up?
He should venture out at night w/out bodyguards and arrive to the airport late at night and take a taxi to his hotel. He might have a different opinion.
You know, just as a test.
