Consider the source, Fakebook.
Facebook? Facebook that is censoring news and penalizing conservatives? Who cares what is on FB?
As far as CMc, she is desperate because she is going to get beaten decisively this year in the election, she is scared
The Senate just can do this. Any funding deal has to go back to the House for approval. Fakebook.
I believe there were other poisoned riders in that.... never what the media makes it seem.
Because if it were brought up for a vote and passed, it would then allow the budget and the CR to continue to be tied to, and dependent on DACA. And DACA, over the long term, will produce millions of Democrat voters.
McConnell wants to fund the ENTIRE Gov’t, the RAT just wants to fund the Military. McConnell feels NOT paying Military will pressure RATs to ‘see it his way’ - did I splain it ?
Political grandstanding.
It’s over. Trump wins, Schumer cuts his losses.
Who just blinked in the Senate? McConnell or Schumer? I’m gathering that McConnell blinked.
Its 1 of the wacky rules in the Senate you have to vote against a bill you propose or its automatically voted off the floor as a failure......
so much for Durbin’s tough talk about keeping it shut until they got something done for illegal invaders.
Fund the military and the three co-equal branches. Leave the rest of it closed and let homeless people live in all the buildings.
seems true
both the house and the senate had bills ready to exempt military pay from the shutdown, like in 2013.
It seems money matters should start in the House ?
BS - plus, Schmoomer blinked and is eating crow right now....
Parliamentary maneuver. If the sponsor of a bill that will fail votes against the bill, it can be brought back up any time. If the sponsor votes for it, there is a somewhat lengthy hold placed on the bill.
When McCaskill brought up the proposal, my initial impression was sounds reasonable and I could not think of a counter argument. McConnell objected adding at this time. My impression at that time was it is more a timing thing rather than disagreement. Thinking about it, McCaskill wanted to show the voters that she was for the military. Given the state of things, she absolutely knew that there would be no immediate vote. This was a show at the time where more people would be watching.
Any conclusion that it is other than procedural or implies that McConnell was against funding military pay is completely inaccurate.
