330 mile on level ground in the late spring and early fall during the daylight. Going up hill, excessive braking, turning on the AC or the heat, headlights, and the millage will begin to fall in direct proportion to the severity of the demand/load.

Uh...

The EPA is a calculation estimate.

Note that reviewers are pretty cagey about what real life range is:

http://www.motortrend.com/cars/tesla/model-3/2017/the-automobile-2-0-chevrolet-bolt-ev-premier-vs-nissan-leaf-sl-vs-tesla-model-3-long-range/

And note that the Tesla 3 Long Range tested is $60k.

310 miles, according to the EPA

And how many on average according to folks who have driven one.

No deal. Give me 500 miles and a 5 minute refill, and then maybe we'll talk.

Of course it has to be priced the same as a gasoline or diesel vehicle. I'm not paying double the amount for half the utility.

The solution is obvious. Batteries need to be switched out, not permanent batteries that are charged in the vehicle. That should have been the design from the beginning. Someday, there will be viable electric cars and that’s how they will work.

Hey, both our Subaru Outback and Ford F150 go over 400 miles per tank, and they can be filled up just about anyplace.

Nice looking cars. All I need is maybe a 200 mile range. If they can get the cost down further, I’ll get one.

Is that without or with the a/c or heater running?

Well, let's see. Does the Tesla go 60 miles an hour for 300 miles and then just quit like my LED flashlight, or does it start slowing down like my flashlight on alkaline cells does? And if I have to go 600 miles to my son's, how long does it take to charge up fully? another 5 hours? Does that mean it takes 15 hours altogether to get there? That would be the same as 40 miles an hour, steady, eh? What do I do during the 5 hour charge time? Or do I just switch batteries at the charging station?

This makes my head ache . . .

I had a 74 Dodge Charger that did about 220 per tankful, mixed driving, day in, day out, summer winter spring and fall. WHAT do electrics do week on week in actual use?

As long as you don’t ever need to drive over 300 miles and can’t wait 8 hours for a charge. Sorry, the gas engine is going to still be around 20 years from now.

compared to gasoline,
electricity costs nothing.

and better than that,
none of your money goes to OPEC

Most folks don’t commute 300 miles per day. Plug it in at night just like your cell phone. Long trips may be a problem and certainly very cold weather, but here in sunny California there might be real appeal.

Bland looking.
I bet that 310 number goes down when you turn on the heater or a/c or climb a hill.

But it won’t go 150 miles with the heater/defroster on.
