The old one looks much cooler... And the sad part is, they could make it exactly the same.. So why not do that? Sure, it would take lots of metal, lots and lots of metal, but it would be awesome to and well worth it to have the same vehicle in spanking brand new condition.
The brightwork is pockmarked with rust spots, and the paint is flat and faded, though apparently some of that was intentionally done to give it the same flavor as McQueen's character in the film, Lt. Frank Bullitt.
It wasn't in that condition when the movie was made. They roughened the edges a bit................
EPA and other govt. safety standards........
As a side note, there's many European super cars that will never see the streets of the US until they can be modified to meet the EPA emissions standards and once that happens, while fast, they won't be the original car they were designed to be........
He said that the only way that will ever happen without switching to electric power is for the automobiles to be made even lighter and the engines being forced to utilize 94 octane gasoline or higher as opposed to the standard of 87 octane......
The result: the higher cost of gasoline to the consumer
