Why would you think it crazy?
It’s one of the most visually stunning lines of poetry ever written.
The mind that produced that was capable of pure pop culture banality
(of which he thankfully used only a modicum) and at the same time
(sometimes in the same song) he could indulge in the sublime.
The poem in question is worthy of a Renaissance Master.

Morrison’s father was Rear Admiral George Morrison, veteran of WWII
and Korea who was Commander of the US Naval Forces in the Gulf of Tonkin
when the “Gulf of Tonkin Incident” started the big escalation of the VietNam War.
