A Delta flight departed from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday. The pilot heard a noise, and the aircraft was forced to return due to engine problems, CBS Atlanta affiliate WGCL-TV reports.

Passengers then boarded a second flight that left at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday night. The pilot heard a noise again, and the aircraft returned to the gate Wednesday at about 1:45 a.m.

Alex Brown, a passenger, reportedly said he heard a loud banging on that flight.... "And (a Delta official) came back on and said we're going to turn around. Everything is OK with the airplane but ... we're going to turn around" as a precaution.

We were on a flight out of Denver to Las Vegas that got turned around because of noise. Some little girl was screaming so much the pilot aborted and made her and her mother get off. The passengers sitting near them all clapped as they got out.

Had that happen on a flight last year, from Atlanta to Charlotte. Loud bang after gear up, plane leveled off, pilot announce RTB. Turns out a maintenance door popped open.

Tightened sphincters all around...

I HATE it when that happens. It was probably something rattling around in the glove box...

Two DIFFERENT planes; two DIFFERENT flight crews.

Was this an air freight in the cargo hold problem?

Had a problem like that, once.

One of the kids put a pen in the overhead console, and I kept hearing a rattle and clicking that sounded like a u-joint going...

Ok...my tin foil hat may be a little tight but there's definately something fishy with air travel lately.

1.Power outage at ATK
2.Power Outage at New Orleans
3.Something on the order of ten airports in the US and Europe all evacuated 1/1/18 for various weird reasons
4.The flight from LA to Tokyo that turned around half way because of a 'stowaway'
4.Two fights from ATL turn around and return midflight yesterday
This...

All this weirdness in a week?

Been flying since I was a baby. DC-9 Jumpseat to a 787 over the decades. Had turbulence that slammed drinks in our hands to the overhead console. I’m very sure that the Biggest Scare I was in was coming into DFW at night in a Medium Sized Texas “Rain Shower” with some pretty heavy windshear in a 757 and about 50’ AGL IT WAS THROTTLE ON AND GEAR UP!!!

A “Smaller Jet was in the way” is what the Captain told Us after we were gaining separation...

Cudos to the Crew. Made it sound like making an order at a drive through burger place.

Thank You ALL CREWMEMBERS for everything Y’ALL do the most could never comprehend to keep Us safe.

Dear Delta Pilots:

As with driving a car, when you hear a funny noise, just turn up the radio to drown it out.

Your friend,
Cecily

Do the math on what % of total flights occurred during that time. I’d venture to guess the instances you mentioned are extremely low % of total flights.

Flew out of ABQ a few weeks ago and one of the engines sounded like it was going to self destruct.

Southwest pilot didn't care / didn't hear it I guess.
It made that racket all the way to HOU Hobby.
