Yes. Very disappointed Auburn was in peach bowl. They blew it.
Undefeated UCF just beat Auburn who beat both teams in the championship game
And Auburn lost to Clemson who disintegrated last night for a 2nd time this season, and Auburn lost to LSU who lost to Troy.
If the SEC would have to play 9 CONFERENCE GAMES like the Big Ten and stop scheduling FCS (lower division cupcakes) like Mercer (5-6 this year) to make up for the one game, then there wouldn’t be 2 SEC teams in the playoffs.
Yes. But they blew the sec championship game big time.
Well, the interesting thing is seeing how players are reacting to the Big Ten and changing tide in college football. For 10 years Nick Saban had the number 1 recruiting class each and every year, thereby having incredible depth. That ended with the class of 2018.
1. Georgia
2. Ohio State
3. Texas
4. Penn State
5. Alabama
Things are going to start getting a lot more difficult for Saban as he will for the first time have to do more with less, particularly if this trend continues.
Imagine if Ohio State got to play Iowa in the Big Ten championship and revenge it’s loss against them like Georgia got to do....just saying. Mulligan for thee, but not for me...
Oklahoma scored as many points against Georgia in the first half as they did in a full 4 quarters against the Buckeyes - 31.
If the SEC would actually play 9 CONFERENCE GAMES instead of 8, and then instead of scheduling UL Monroe, Troy, and Mercer would have to play another team from the other division in their conference like the Big 10 does then maybe they would have 2 losses. Good thing Alabam doesn’t play a 5-6 FCS Mercer next year, but they do play FCS The Citadel. What a joke, can’t find any FBS teams to play?
Alabama schedules FSU to start the season. They were #2 or #3 in every poll. Theses schedules are made a few years in advance. What more can they do? Over the last ten years, no one has scheduled bigger opening games than Alabama. Two of those games were vs Big 10 — Michigan and Wisconsin.
Alabama plays an SEC west schedule. The SEC west has been the toughest division in college football over the last 10 years.
Alabama plays a lightweight before the auburn game every year because auburn does. By the way, has anyone looked at Georgia’s schedule for 2018. They’re playing in the SEC east which should be a cakewalk. No real out of conference opponent either.
We are now in the CFP era. The Big Ten East is the best division inb the best conference from top to bottom, there is no debate. If Alabama had to play another team from the SEC from the east division perhaps they wouldn’t only have 1 loss. And to schedule a LOWER DIVISION middle of the road team like Mercer or The Citadel for next season is a joke on the entire committee selection process.
OSU this year beat UNLV, who then went on to beat Fresno State. So the CFP committee’s justification for not dropping Alabama further in the polls after it’s loss to a now 4 loss Auburn team was that it had 3 top 25 wins, when they fraudulently put Fresno State into the 25th spot in the rankings. What a joke. If Alabama’s best win no. 17 LSU qualifies a team to the CFP then a lot of team’s who were previously held out of the playoff because the committee didn’t want to put 2 teams from the same conference into the playoffs have a right to be angry.
I don’t remember OSU fans being upset when the B1G champion didn’t make the playoffs last year...
Only 1 Big Ten team got into the playoffs, OSU was ranked 3rd by the committee. The 4th seed was between Washington and Penn st. And yet again, the committee decided it was in the best interest to diversify the field by not allowing a 2nd team from the same conference into the playoffs.
The fact that Auburn and Clemson were so overrated and their rankings inflated by the committee because of “eye test” that it skewed everything in favor of Alabama getting into the CFP.
That needs to end. One way is to expand to 5 conference winners and 1 at large. Have the 4 lower ranked teams compete in a quarterfinals style matchup a week after their respective league championship games for the right to play the two highest ranked teams on New Year’s Day.

If not for Lane Kiffin having a mental vacation vs OSU, Saban would be undefeated vs Big 10.
2 losses. 2 losses. 2 losses. 2 losses. 2 losses. 2 losses. 2 losses. 2 losses ........
There is a lot of silly nonsense about things like Fresno State and UNLV but it’s really about doing what you have to do — that is WIN YOUR GAMES. OSU didn’t. The loss to Iowa ... yeah, IOWA by 31 points.
Check out Wisconsin’s schedule and get back with me.
Check out UGA’s schedule and get back with me. Check out UGA’s 2018 schedule .... laughable. They should win every game.
9/1 vs. Austin Peay
9/8 at South Carolina*
9/15 vs. Middle Tennessee
9/22 at Missouri*
9/29 vs. Tennessee*
10/6 vs. Vanderbilt*
10/13 at LSU*
10/20 BYE
10/27 vs. Florida (Jacksonville)*
11/3 at Kentucky*
11/10 vs. Auburn*
11/17 vs. UMass
11/24 vs. Georgia Tech
Look at what they scheduled OUT OF CONFERENCE. They play in the much weaker SEC east. Their only real game next year is auburn which should be down next year.
I am not sure who your team is but let’s hear their out of conference schedule over the last ten years. Let’s hear the big name opponents.
OSU does not have clean hands in this discussion. OSU is bitching now because they were excluded on the same basis PSU was excluded last year, namely:
* Both beat Wisconsin in the B1G championship game
* Big blow-out loss to a B1G opponent (PSU to Mich, OSU to Iowa)
* Two-loss team vs. a good one-loss team that didn’t make their conference playoff (PSU/OSU, OSU/Ala)
Complain all you want, but you are a year too late.
For the record, I wasn’t happy with how the PSU was snubbed, but since the committee set the precedent, I was glad to see that they did not change the precedent to benefit OSU twice.
If if if if if...if OSU OC Tom Herman didn’t leave to become head coach of the U of Houston instead of returning in 2015 then OSU would be repeat national champions...
Want to continue?
The Big Ten was excluded in an unprecedented fashion, get your facts straight...
My facts are straight; the B1G Champion was excluded two years in a row for the same reasons.
Alabama played LSU for the title in New Orleans, how did that work out for LSU?
Not so. GA and AL are neighbors. I could be there in 2.5 hours from central Bama. 50%50.
Is Michigan State in the Big 10?
Giving up 50+ points should eliminate any team with 2 losses.
