Only 1 Big Ten team got into the playoffs, OSU was ranked 3rd by the committee. The 4th seed was between Washington and Penn st. And yet again, the committee decided it was in the best interest to diversify the field by not allowing a 2nd team from the same conference into the playoffs.

The fact that Auburn and Clemson were so overrated and their rankings inflated by the committee because of “eye test” that it skewed everything in favor of Alabama getting into the CFP.

That needs to end. One way is to expand to 5 conference winners and 1 at large. Have the 4 lower ranked teams compete in a quarterfinals style matchup a week after their respective league championship games for the right to play the two highest ranked teams on New Year’s Day.

OSU does not have clean hands in this discussion. OSU is bitching now because they were excluded on the same basis PSU was excluded last year, namely:

* Both beat Wisconsin in the B1G championship game
* Big blow-out loss to a B1G opponent (PSU to Mich, OSU to Iowa)
* Two-loss team vs. a good one-loss team that didn’t make their conference playoff (PSU/OSU, OSU/Ala)

Complain all you want, but you are a year too late.

For the record, I wasn’t happy with how the PSU was snubbed, but since the committee set the precedent, I was glad to see that they did not change the precedent to benefit OSU twice.
