Now that the Last Jedi has been out for a few days, I am wondering who here has seen it? I saw some of the reviews said it was great, but they also said the force awakens was great, and I hated that movie because of the utter lack of originality.
Without providing too many spoilers, how was it?
just another Star Wars movie
Rey and Ren’s development - good
Poe Dameron’s plot - social justice BS and total stupidity that threaten the survival of the Rebellion
Meta references and tie-ins to past movies - good
Hopefully better than the last one.
I stopped after the second one, but I’ve read fans are petitioning to have it stricken from canon. I wouldn’t know how to catch up at this point. The Ewoks killed it for me.
A few parts towards the end shine. Most of the characters have the emotional depth of a 15-year old.
Another Jedi/Starwars movie... Give it up already.
Has to be mentioned because Star Wars fans should all know a simple fact. If they strike down the latest movie, it will come back more powerful than they can imagine.
Horrible, worst. Bad story and characters. Watched it last night with my twin 10 year old boys. We all agreed. Waste of IMAX/3D money. Wait for cable, it will be there shortly.

Just like the plot of the “The Force Awakens
roughly followed “A New Hope”, this one roughly follows ESB. The ending seemed very similar.
Agreed with most of that. There is some good but a whole load of crap in the film. At least 40 mins ( the whole code-breaker subplot) could have been removed with no effect on the story.
Not sure if I’ll bother with the next one, SW films have been more Miss than hit over the last 20 years.
Ren is the only character I’m interested in now. A worthy successor to Vader as the prime villain.
What’s a Jedi? Is it a Star Trek character?

Don’t get your hopes up too high.
Watched the original trilogy (episodes 4-6). Forced myself to watch The Phantom Menace (episode 1). I wish I hadn’t.
I would like to know what others think too. I heard it lacks action and there is way too much dialog. I was going to see it until I heard that.
