Federal prosecutors in New York have subpoenaed Deutsche Bank for records tied to senior White House adviser Jared Kushner’s family business, The New York Times reported Friday.

Prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York subpoenaed the records from the German financial institution over the past few weeks. It's unclear what records the prosecutors are pursuing, or how closely tied they are to Kushner himself.

Kushner Companies has taken out hundreds of millions of dollars in loans from Deutsche Bank over the years.

Kushner, who is President Trump's son-in-law, stepped down from his position leading the company to join the Trump administration, but still owns part of the business.

“We are unaware of any inquiry directed at Deutsche Bank from the E.D.N.Y. and have no reason to believe there is one,” a Kushner Companies spokeswoman told The Times.

The Times reported that the subpoena appears to be unrelated to special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe...

Even after the OIG report comes out, I still seriously doubt Trump will pull the rug out from under Mueller. Mueller has completely discredited himself, and his investigation, by a series self-inflicted wounds. Archibald Cox, this guy isn’t. So, in Trump eyes, it’ll probably never rise to the Point of having to fire him. When your enemy in the process of destroying himself, don’t interfere.

Precisely. It’s nothing but impeachment bait. Trump knows this. That’s why he’s not going for it

Yes there are, but many if not all of those folks are the same ones that were previously claiming that Mueller and Trump had a secret deal, that Trump would lie to the press and his supporters every day about what was going on, while Mueller secretly built a case against Hillary, not Trump. Prosecutions of four Trump associates, and expose’s on the bias of Mueller’s team have mostly exposed that as fantasy, although some still believe it, but are rare to admit it here at least.

The report the came out yesterday trying to prop up Sessions as someone interested in actually investigating Uranium One, was solely based on a single report from an MSNBC reporter known for planting false stories before. It also contradicts Sessions own recusals, stated under oath multiple times, for anything related to the Clintons or their foundations.

Despite Sessions’ recusals on anything Clinton related, he did involve himself enough while testifying to his own oversight committee in Congress, to tell them he wasn’t planning on honoring their request for a special prosecutor to investigate the FBI’s previous mishandling of Uranium One. This is obviously hypocritical, as it took basically nothing for a special prosecutor to be assigned to investigating Trump, when a few Democrats called for it.

Also, special counsels are supposed to be unbiased, and Mueller is already operating under a conflict of interest waiver. An investigation of the DOJ is the perfect application for a special counsel, so that the DOJ isn’t being trusted to investigate itself. However, Sessions seems more interested in protecting the DOJ, than seeing justice served. When Trump criticized the DOJ the other day, Sessions came right out and said there could be “innocent explanations.”

As you said, we’ll see. Hopefully the DOJ will actually admit it’s mistakes in investigating Hillary and Obama, and finally make some arrests, but based on what we know so far, I’d say it’s highly unlikely the current staff will do that on their own.

Mueller has definitely taken some hits lately, but a cornered rat is when it’s most dangerous. Looks like they’re probably even targeting Trump’s own family, such as described in this thread, which is something I don’t think Trump will take too kindly, especially if it’s nothing related to the election.

You have to keep in mind all these arrests of Trump associates from Mueller, while Hillary and the Democrats have gotten off scott free. Trump is the top law enforcement officer in the land, and is ultimately responsible for making sure justice is equally served.

If he sees his own family being arrested, while no Democrats are being held to account, I expect him to act, and fully support it. I fully support him firing Sessions or Rosenstein now, if he feels appropriate, based on how they’ve acted, but my guess is they’ve game planned it out and have a better idea of when, and if it will actually be necessary.

But Mueller and the deep state probably aren’t going to just sit back and keep taking punches. I’d bet they have something planned, to put Trump on the defensive again pretty soon. But he better hurry, if that Congressional report exposing the corruption in the DOJ is coming out in January. Congressman Stewart said yesterday it “will cause heads to explode.”

I agree with you, the current staff at DOJ is not the least bit inclined to do any House cleaning. In fact, they're all basically dirty and conflicted, or most of them are, as recent events show.

The Real housecleaning, I believe, will happen once the OIG report comes out. I could be wrong. We'll know in the spring.

That investigation, which has been going on for 11 months and counting, is what exposed the agency black hats we know of thus far. There's more. Gut tells me we've only seen the tip of the iceberg.

Oh, I agree completely. If Mueller dials it up to 11, and actually starts handcuffing Trump family members, all bets are off. And Trump will have public opinion on his side.

Even some Manafort-like predawn raid on Trump Jr would be enough to get Mueller’s ass canned.

I would like to believe in the OIG report, but I have my suspicions. First, the guy is an Obama appointee, that supposedly did the cleanup of Fast and Furious, etc. Second, he’s been given credit for releasing Strzok’s texts, but reports came out today indicating they were actually leaked first. Third, he normally works for the AG, but since the AG is recused on these matters, he now works direct for Ronsenstein, who appointed Mueller.

I just don’t see Rosenstein wanting to release a report that criticizes the special counsel, or its team members, that he specifically setup for his longtime associate Mueller. Could it happen, maybe, but in the opinion of many the only way the DOJ can be honestly investigated is by an outside party, just as their oversight committee has requested. If the DOJ keeps refusing that, they may pass a law that reverts back to allowing Congress to appoint their own special counsels.

Since Mueller has come up empty-handed as far as collusion, it’s basically a game of chicken right now, with he and his prosecutors steadily upping the ante, hoping to lure Trump into their impeachment bait.

If not the OIG, it’ll be those 1.2 million documents the House judiciary committee will get its hands on by mid-January. But the black hats will lose, one way or the other. We live in interesting times.

There’s not many paths that can lead to the President, and Mueller is going to need a lot more than just Flynn and Comey and McCabe to sell the impeachment of the President, so more indictments are probably coming. And Mueller needs to make a big splash, to try to show that even though his team may have bias, the bias is justified because of the criminals currently in the white house.

Unfortunately, Kushner and Don Jr. may be the ones that best fit this definition. For starters, their ties to the President are undeniable. Second, they may not be prepared for the types of traps that Meuller and his dirty cops have been laying for them. Trump has already ratcheted up the Congress and mainstream press attacks on Mueller about as far as he can right now. What Mueller’s counterpunch will be is what we’re waiting on, which will either be huge, or he will waive the white flag.
