Keely was one of a kind-—unbelievable talent. Have an amazing cd collection her with Louis Prima, Sam Butera and solo albums through the years—
Rest gentle my sweet angel-

Man, do I feel old (maybe ‘cause I am); she was 89-I used to think she was a hottie.

God rest her soul, Her voice say’s nothing more than late 40’s - late 60’s. Which is when she would have been considered iconic. I wonder if she had any Bond theme songs?

I was a fan of hers beginning in the late 1950’s. In fact, I recently listened to a few of her vocals. “I wish you Love” was one of my favorites.

She will be missed.

One of the greatest American pop singers. I can’t think of any of the young people today who can hold a candle to her.

I feel like I jinxed her- just two days ago I was telling niteowl77 about how my dad liked Keely Smith. Mom and dad had her "Swing You Lovers" and (IIRC) "Swingin' Pretty" LPs soon after they bought the "big" RCA stereo in '61 or '62. She shared space with Ray Charles' "Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music," Johnny Horton's "Johnny Horton Makes History," Les Elgart's "The Great Sound of Les Elgart," Johnny Mathis' "Heavenly"...

Mom and dad were eclectic back in them days.

My tagline showed up.

Rest in Peace

As you go through life remember, wherever you go, there you

It’s a great life if you don’t

Don’t take life so seriously, no one gets off this rock alive.

SohhhHH, enjoy yourself while you are here...

My wife and I saw this post at the same time, and she’s devastated. She’s a retro lounge/jazz singer herself, and her all-time idols are Ella Fitzgerald and Keely Smith. Everyone worships Ella, but Keely sadly didn’t get the recognition she deserved. One of the greatest voices of all time. My wife’s dream was to meet her someday, now that will never happen, not that there was much chance to begin with. But between CDs, vinyl and downloads, I think we have everything she ever recorded, and that will last until the current garbage dubbed “music” is in the landfill where it belongs and people are ready for greatness again.

So sad to lose the singers we love. Thank goodness we can still hear the songs through recording. RIP Keely, you will always be remembered by your fans.

Slip back the lid, scoop everything in sight
Make it a rainbow of red, brown and white
Chocolate chip and everything that’s nice
Tutti-frutti once and spumoni twice

Banana split for my baby
And a glass of plain water for me

(This is ONE song we got to see Keely smile)
