Watching waves crash into the shoreline can be a beautiful and mesmerizing sight.
And these stunning images snapped by the world's top surf photographers show the intense power the sea can have.
The dramatic pictures form part of a eye-catching new book called Amazing Waves, that is aimed at surfers wanting to learn how to ride them.

I don’t surf. I just watch and take photos : ). The pipeline is *not* for beginners or the faint of heart !
Non-swimmer here. I used to cry in rooms with pools. They tried to get me to swim in college but, when I said I’d quit, they backed down. When we added an addition to our house, I built a tiny indoor pool that at the deepest end was just under my nose. Took me a month to walk down to that end. Wanted to make like a fool in private, but never learned to swim.
Deeply impressed with those with the guts to do it.

Very loudly clucking chicken here.

“My problem with Daily Mail is that, first, there are too many anti-Trump articles that I look at for pictures and try not to read and, secondly, they get off, it seems, on animal cruelty articles, which I can’t handle.”
I agree completely! However, the “leftist” articles are quite often accompanied by conservative themed articles. They went after hillary many times, way more than other MSM outlets. I think the Daily Mail is reasonably balanced....not as Conservative as I would like, but “reasonable”....at least by today’s standards. And, Yes, I see the animal cruelty articles all the time. Very upsetting, but I’d rather they be put in the spotlight than remain hidden. I also hate reading those pieces.
How did they take those pics without water spots on the lenses?
I had a vet who always left out brochures from the anti-cruelty society. I’m willing to contribute. I just don’t want pictures. He was a great vet because he took in strays and let them run loose in his office. You could contribute to their upkeep or adopt, which I found wonderful.
I used to think there were more pro-Trump articles in Daily Mail back during the election. It’s been in recent months that it seems to have tilted so much against someone I love so deeply.
I never thought of that!
Brilliant catch.
And not the faintest idea. When I took my video camera near the water, I had a shield case for it, but the lens area was always wet. The detail is so great it’s hard to imagine they “cleaned” the lens with Photoshop.
Totally tubular dude.
People easily underestimate its strength.
I was bodysurfing with some buddies off Daytona Beach years ago. I caught a wave at a bad angle. It drug me to the beach and left me there like a whipped puppy. There was nothing I could do to stop from being drug along the bottom.
And those were only about six foot waves. Learned my lesson that day. Respect the wave.
Uh, not even close to #1. Wave shape and speed is what Pipe is all about.

That said, they were something of a joke on SoCal, as only one of them (Mike Love) had much to do with the ocean, as in surfing. The others did not surf.
Mike ended up drowning off his sailboat while tied up in Marina Del Rey.
Thanks
