Help advance an alternative Roy Moore narration

Posted on 12/08/2017 7:39:07 AM PST by MichaelRDanger

The left is attempting to portray Ray Moore as a sexual predator and pedophile. A more probable alternative narration is one of Roy Moore as a young man seeking a wife. Like millions of men, including the late Elvis Presley, Roy Moore was interested in a young attractive women. He did so in an honorable fashion making himself know to the young women's parents. After a period he found his young woman and married her. 40 years later he remains happily married.

Radical feminists and the progressive "war on men" are attempting to portray all men as sexual predators even men seeking wives. Yes; Many rich, powerful and handsome men have become corrupted by the attention shown them by many women and have acted badly. It is dishonest to attack all men by the behaviors of a few.

Can we spread the word defending Roy Moore and the right of men to seek wives and loved ones without being attacked as sexual predators? Does the Free Republic still have that power?

Up to the early 70s it was not uncommon for 16 year-olds to date older guys and get married the summer after graduating from high school after dating for at least two years. And most times the young women were virgins when they married.

This is possible, and in particular if his behavior was ‘predatory’ rather than casual or unobtrusive, there probably would have been more evidence along the lines of police reports and complaints from the time. However, I can only speak in social norms of my times, it seems to me that if this was his behavior, someone should have probably set him straight, IE, “hay, maybe someone a little closer to your age, maybe?” Even if the motives were not selfish or aggressive, it’s still not a good look in today’s optics.

“including the late Elvis Presley”

I’d drop Elvis from the narrative - he had Priscilla move into Graceland when she was 14. Not comparable.

Actually, she was probably 16 or 17, but the situation was obviously different than Moore’s.

Ds like narratives. It distracts from issues/policies. This election is about who will better represent Alabama in congress. Neither one is in jail so both will be able to serve. Neither party has a moral high ground to preach from (Conyers and Franken don’t change that). Voters may decide that Moore’s past makes him the wrong representative of their values. But Pelosi’s actions and statements should not be part of that decision making process for voters - she has one goal and it is not to elect the best representative for Alabama.

Liberals have spent decades turning the country into a moral mess. We’d love to work with them to change things.

The way to work with liberals to fix our social problems (if they want to) is not to believe all accusations and get rid of people without evidence and due process (i.e. courts, congressional ethics committees, or elections) They should not have forced Franken out based on what we know - that type of witch hunt is not healthy and not a useful first step in fixing our many social problems including sexual harassment which they have supported for decades. That type of witch hunt is political positioning aimed at winning elections with voters who don’t like your party’s ideas and policies and you would not win without political distraction.

My dad was in his mid 20’s when he married my mom at age 15. Of course it goes without saying that they were together until his death a few years ago.

A man honestly seeking a wife cannot be a sexual predator...

The average age that a woman first marries, in the US, is now 27, back in the 70's it was 21. In Alabama, it has always been much lower than the national average.

In Alabama, in the 70's, women either married out of high school, or they went on to college, where they most likely married coming out of college, it was pretty uncommon to have a woman not in school, and not married.

So, Roy Moore finishes high school, graduates from West Point, serves in Vietnam, and graduates from law school, all the while remaining single. He's in his early 30's when graduates from law school, and wants to settle down, and find a wife - where's he supposed to look?

I image with his faith, he does not want to marry a divorcee, and ever female over the age of 20 is most likely already married. Moore didn't date young women because he has a perversion towards them, he dated them because they were the available pool of marriageable women!

More of those marriages lasted too... the men were old enough to support a family and mature enough to make a marriage work.

Today’s young people are fearful of entering into marriage ... and with good cause.

The best thing to do now is discuss the woman admitting to forging the yearbook.

In the South, in the 70’s, when I was in my mid-twenties, a guy I worked with insisted on setting me up with his 16yo daughter. He made it clear that I should not do anything to “feel her up”. Took her out twice to the movies. That was it, didn’t even kiss her, we had nothing in common and frankly she just wasn’t to bright.

Hard to change the narrative when 95% of the msm are card carrying(and water carrying) democrats.

As Rush observed, point out to those bringing this up, that it makes sense as Roy as a Democrat at the time.

It seems Roy Moore was a registered Democrat when the alleged misdeeds were done.

That shuts ‘em up real quick.

All of the women who have come forward 40 years after the fact, just one month before a special election, are simply not credible. Period.

This is by definition, a political hit job to defeat Moore in the upcoming election. These were not legitimate complaints against Moore. Not since they waited almost four decades to mention anything about their claims.

All of these women were at or over the age of consent in Alabama at the time. This makes them "adult women", not children as the Left tries to portray them.

Judge Moore went to and received the permission of all the women's parents to date them. Sounds honorable to me.

Moore was considered a great "catch" for these women in Alabama at the time. He was a young lawyer with a future. They could have done worse.

And yet the democRATS have distilled down the allegations against Moore as being a child molester and a pedophile.

There is absolutely no evidence of this in the allegations and yet true to the democRAT playbook, they lie and make it up about him being a predator. None of it is true. It doesn't take much for the Left to twist everything to look worse than the facts reveal.

It may be too late to change the narrative like you suggest, because Moore will win in the election next week and go to the Senate. But his going-forward defense should be what you suggest. He was a young lawyer dating pretty ladies and seeking a wife. That should be his proactive stance from here on.

Your comparing apples and oranges here.

What may not look so copacetic in today's PC world, it was nonetheless considered perfectly acceptable in Alabama four decades ago.

All of these women were at or over the age of consent in Alabama at the time. That made them "women" and not children.

Moore had the permission from all these women's parents to date them. Sounds honorable to me.

And Moore was considered a great "catch" for the day. He was a young lawyer working in the DA's office. He was looking for a pretty wife.

He was not breaking the law or the norms of the time.

For you to subjectively judge him on today's standards is wrong and arrives at your negative conclusions.
