Al Franken didnt resign, he announced he intends to resign in a few weeks (after the Judge Roy Moore election). If Judge Roy Moore gets elected in Alabama expect Franken to have a change of heart. He'll use Moore's victory as a reason to NOT resign. "I can't in good conscience resign and let a child molester fill a vacancy without me being here", or some such garbage. I think many of us agree the liberal hit squad is what is coming after Moore, not true "victims". Their timing, the amount of time it took for them to come forward, and total lack of evidence (other than the fabricated year book) all say to me that it is more likely than not a fabrication, and that is what we call a lack of probable cause or failing to meet a preponderance of the evidence. Franken also took the unusual tactic of announcing his intent in a speech before congress which gave him coverage on all networks. During that speech he called out Roy Moore and President Trump implying if Franken resigns so should they. I think this whole thing stinks like a false flag operation by the DNC.
And never forget it is McConnell who doesnt want Moore in the Senate because ONE Senator can prevent a recess and force them to work on Trumps agenda.
Yes, that is most certainly their plan, it’s totally obvious. Franken falls on his sword due to “allegations”, which they will say is the new standard, so why not for Trump? Then they can dredge-up the allegations against Trump from the 2016 campaign, or manufacturer a new one. The Democrats have no class, ethics or morals when it comes to trying again and again to destroy their opponents.
Well that would mean that major Democrat politicians are slimy weasels.
Oh wait....yeah.
The RATS need Frankenstein to vote with them over the next crucial couple of weeks.
In a few weeks, he’ll announce “I am resigning my seat in the Senate effective January 3, 2039, at the end of my fifth term in office”.
My brother and I were laughing when he said “Intends to resign”, this morning.
Good for him.
HE will milk the taxpayer for a couple of months longer and perhaps do some insider trading in this bull market.
Weasel resignation filled with every weasel word and phrase in the Weasel Dictionary. Knew it when I listened to the first minute that we may never be rid of him.
Gov Mark Dayton has already chosen Lt. Gov. Tina Smith as a replacement. She must be crazy.
Franken is a coward. He couldn’t just face the music, retire from politics to spend more time with his family. He had to clutch his pearls and offer up some pablum about “resigning in a few weeks.”
Someone called him a weasel. That’s an insult to weasels.
This is actually hilarious. There was a Carol Burnett skit where Carol and the regular crew were playing soap opera roles. Everybody has already read the day’s script except Tim Conway. Conway’s character is supposed to die that day. Nonononono! He can’t die. He needs the job; kids in school, mortgage, etc. So, during shooting Carol’s character tries to kill him and ends up chasing him around the set as he avoids dying. Finally, she knocks him unconscious “for real” and the others drag him off the set. As the scene ends, he comes flying in on a rope dressed as a ghost yelling, “woooo, I’m ba-aack!”
This is what Franken’s act reminds me of. The Democrats are trying to clear the field so they can capture the moral high ground. “We got rid of Franken and Conway so now Trump and Moore have to resign.” But, Franken doesn’t like the script they wrote.
I consider Franken a thoroughly execrable man. But I will lay in a supply of popcorn and enjoy the show he puts on. I hope he is around like a stinking Democratic ghost for years to come.
Love that!
“he announced he intends to resign in a few weeks “
He didn’t even go that far.
He said “in the coming weeks”.
That could literally be infinite.
All of this was choreographed. The women senators asking him to resign did it in the order they were told to. Them the men senators. I wouldn’t be surprised if all of the senators’ Twitter and Facebook accounts are run out of one location. And his speech was pre-approved, if not written, by the dem bosses.
Yeah, he’s gonna wait and see. Maybe, maybe not.
Al Franken will resign on SNL.
Not if Minnesota governor appointed someone else already. I thought Dayton already had the person (guaranteed to be just as lefty as Franken and Dayton) picked out.
In this way, that new person owed Dayton a big favor, and Dems don’t lose any ground either.
What exit?
The degenerate has not resigned.
