My daughter spent about a month in Singapore several years ago. She liked it the best of all the ports she visited, mainly due to the “Terror Club,” a hub for English-speaking seaman of several nations.
Somewhere on FR, there are several of her reports from Singapore, but I’d have to track down the dates in my diaries and then dig out the contemporaneous Undead Threads to find them.
I'm very sympathetic about the no gum rule. First time I had to clean up gum when the kids were small I imposed a no gum in the house rule. It worked and none of my kids were scarred by it.
