We're thinking of visiting Singapore next year and have been reading up on it.
I'm very sympathetic about the no gum rule. First time I had to clean up gum when the kids were small I imposed a no gum in the house rule. It worked and none of my kids were scarred by it.

I developed my psychotic aversion to gum when my husband put a pack in the laundry. Since then, I have insisted that gum is Of The Devil and reviled it at every opportunity.
Anoreth says the zoo is interesting. They just let the pangolins out to climb the trees. I would want to see the banks!

I was stationed there for several years. It's a nice place to visit and be a expat. Beyond that, it's a fascist wet dream in many ways. Enjoy your time there. No free speech, media controlled by the government, no right to assemble, etc.
