About 2:30 this afternoon I was starting to go when the light turned green when we noticed a car (new/newer mustang) facing us and slowly driving the wrong way in the left hand lane. He calmly turned left into the exit lane of the parking lot at the light (to my right).
My 16 year old son and I figured he must have been drunk and thinking he was in the right lane. He gave no acknowledgement to all of us at a dead stop waiting for him, just acted as though all was well. If he hadn’t turned I don’t know what I would have done. Median on my left, vehicle on my right and another behind me. We sort of just watched, fascinated as he ever so slowly continued down the main drag going the wrong way.
What I should have done is snapped a pic and called 911. The guy had no business getting behind the wheel but my thoughts were occupied by how to avoid a head on collision should he continue towards us.
Hope my son learned just how selfish it is to drive after drinking too much.
Ask a policeman...they will tell you that the most horrible accidents are drivers in the left lane going the wrong way are drunk thinking they are in their normal lane.
My cousin always warned all of us...don’t drive in the fast lane after 9 pm....
Must have been British.
