Really? What about all the old hippies living in the communes in the northern part of the state. Those that aren't too stoned to vote think that Bernie Sanders is a right-winger!
I lived in Tehachapi some years ago. IIRC, CA politics revolves around SF & LA. Those two cities control the state vote.
People forget (or don’t know) our real political divide is city vs everything else. For example, NYC & SF by themselves provided a 1.8 million surplus vote for Hillary. I suspect if you added LA in, those three cities would account for her popular vote win - by themselves.
Hence the Electoral College, so the rest of the country doesn’t need to TOTALLY live by the whim of a handful of cities.
