Did this set up involve a step ladder, by chance? Alton Brown addressed deep-frying turkeys and all pertinant safety measures on an episode of ‘Good Eats’.

I wrap my turkey in layers of heavy duty foil and put it in a 250 degree oven before I go to bed. Usually about 11. I pull it out the next day about an hour before we eat. We usually eat about 1 or 2 in the afternoon. Perfect every time and easy peasy.

Excellent details. I’ll try it with a chicken!

What do you do about browning it or does it brown inside the foil?

There was a typo in there. 225 degrees. It more or less browns itself but if you want it really brown just peel the foil back and brown it. I don’t bother with it and everyone always compliments my turkey.

My next door neighbor decided to use a deep fryer to cook this turkey. He didn’t thaw it out. Thing shot out like a cannon ball and landed on his wood shake roof. Burned about a quarter of his house after all was said and done

Guy in front of me yesterday bought 38 lobster tails, 15lb. shrimp, crab legs plus to taters and corn for a monstrous seafood boil in *addition* to the turkey and ham. Bet he spent $400 on seafood alone.

No ladder, more like a scaffold.
